Tipping Mousekeeping - how do you do it?

I printed mine out tonight.I got them ready for September. They are so cute. April:Pinkbounc

Just back from 4 nights at WL. We always leave $3/day on pillow for mousekeeping. :wave2:

We tip $1 per day/per person. If we have left the bathroom especially messy (meaning every towel is dirty and waiting on the floor) we will tip an extra $2. We also tip $1 for each each additional item we request, like a pillow or glass.

I print out Mousekeeping envelopes on my computer with Disney Characters on them and place the cash in them. When we used to leave the cash just sitting out, Mousekeeping would not take it. So now, we place it in these envelopes so they know it is for them. We have also found that by doing this, our requests for an extra pillow or whatever is always filled.

Mousekeeping is great! The ones on the Disney Cruise rock, too.

I tip at least 2.00 (a minimum of 5 dollars per day if just me and hubby) per person in the room per day. when we went all out last year and splurged on GF concierge, I also left a SECOND tip envelope daily for the turndown mousekeeper. Boy, did we have a lot of extra towels and soaps! LOL :D and once, a towel duckie :)

I'm curious -- Is turndown service limited only to concierge, or can you arrange turndown service in any WDW Deluxe resort, no matter which room type you're in?

I just wanted to say 'Hi, Ang'. Nice to see you.

I also use Heidi's great mousekeeping site to print envelopes ahead of time. I make a different one for each day and use one per day. I always put a short note in the envelope also, thanking for helping make my stay magical.

We tip $5 a day for two adults and a child. We are VERY neat or I would tip more. We stay 10-12 days each trip and give it daily. I figure if I can afford to stay onsite then I can affordto cough up a decent tip. I also print out mousekeeping envelopes.

As far as I know it's automatic with Concierge and at GF but you can request it at the Poly and CR.

I also have printed the Disney envelopes and plan on tipping. There will be 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 kids,, 2,7,& 11. We are very neat people, Thanks to my wife, and probably would not have a big mess to clean, does $3.00 a day seem too cheap..

I hate making the beds at home so when someone is willing to do it for me I love it! It's worth the $5.00 a day to come back after a long day at the park and flop down on a nice neat bed.
I am the world's biggest lazy bum so I really appreciate the service. Hey, now that I think of it, I should hire someone to do my house...lol
My sister works in a hotel at the front desk but she has had to do her share of room cleaning and it is not easy considering they have tons of rooms to do in a row.
I have our tip money set aside a little at a time so when we get there, it is not comming right out of our wallet. I try to fill one envelope a week. We are not going until October so I have plenty of time.

We leave $1-2 per person per day, depending on where we are staying.

We leave it tucked under the soap dish on the bathroom vanity, often with a note that says "Thanks Housekeeping".

I leave $2 for turn down service.

I tip $1-2 for each additional item I request. (Pillows, extra soap, etc.)

As an FYI, I never dump the towels on the floor or into the tub. I put them over the edge of the tub. That extra foot makes a big difference when you're bending up and down all day.

We leave between $5-$10 per day and $2-$3 for turndown. We are very neat, housekeepers tell us we are the neatest people! I just can't stand a messy room even on vacation! LOL!! Housekeepers work very hard and I like to let them know how much we appreciate them. I do agree with others, you have to do what you feel you can do. Every tip is greatly appreciated.

if you leave for the entire day, how do you leave out a tip for turndown service?
I would assume normally you would leave it out in the middle of the day to ensure the correct person gets it.

Thanks

We also print out the special envelopes & fill them at home....we keep them in the safe & I let my dd7 pick out the envelope for the day.....we tip $5 per day & put the envelope in the arms of one of the many disney beany babies we bring...we set up a whole show on one of the beds....the mousekeepers probably get a kick out of that!

WOW! Ya'll are much nicer and more generous than I am. We stayed for 5 nts, 5 people and tipped $15 when we left. I wish I had thought about the per day envelope.....that'd be a better idea I think. We had only 1 mousekeeper the entire 5 days that did anything more than replacing towels and making beds. Of course I would go through the room and pick up stuff off the floor, wipe off counters and other things. I guess I'm really confused about this tipping thing. I never know what to tip my hairdresser either. Guess it's a good thing she's known me for 30 yrs and loves me anyway!!

As part of my little package (since I was in charge of all planning and I have OCD, I did go a bit overboard), I used Disney print artist and made up envelopes for us all (we were five adults in three rooms). Mine had Donald (shock), my Sis and BIL had Goofy, and Mom and Step-Monster had Mickey. I made it a point to put a dollar a day back and before we left, I filled each envelope with $5 a piece and packed them with my stuff. I made sure each room had their envelopes for the day and that they put them on their pillows. That way they didn't have to remember because I took care of it all! Most days they were so curious to see what the envelope looked like (they were all different), they were asking for them first thing!

Everyday we had either towel animals or my Donalds I bought would be doing different things when we got back to the room! It was great!! I so enjoyed doing it!

We always go back to the room at some point in the late afternoon or early evening to freshen up a bit and change before dinner. That's when we leave the turndown tip.

We tipped ($4.00 a day, just me and hubby)on our trip in June, stayed at Pop, but we did not get one towel animal the whole trip. We did noticed some around the resort and some windows had animals in them, but we didn't get that either. Is there a secret? I brought my mickey stuffed animal, pooh stuffed animal and a tigger stuffed animal and put them on the extra bed. We were not messy, just dissapointed that we didn't get the animals like last year.

What are your thoughts? Do you do anything different when you get towel animals? Does it depend on the resort?

Honestly I think it depends on the housekeeper...they may not even know how to do it.

We Tip every time and sometimes we get them and sometimes we don't...it is hit and miss.
