Ok, I am going to get my first massage, well its a reflexology massage. Do I tip the person who does it? I hope somebody can answer me quickly because I am leaving here in 15 minutes.
What is the going rate? I am getting an new client price of $39 for today.
What should the tip be??
Any help would be great ..THANKS SO MUCH :)

You might get a new client price, but as far as I understand you should tip on what the actual price is . I could be just making that up though lol.

I usually tip at least $40 for a massage. I can't get over how cheap a rate they gave you!!!! I guess I'd still tip at least twenty.

That was only for the first session, after that it goes up to 78 an hour. BUT..you can join their membership for a yr and pay $57 a month for an hour massage.

Ok.. I may be the only person on this planet who does not feel relaxed after my massage:confused3

Actually, I got one last weekend, and felt horribly bruised and sore.

I went in for tension headaches and migraines..and left feeling worse. I have daily chronic tension headaches. I think because I was laying on my back. See I didnt want a full body massage, because undressing, well it just makes me uncomfortable..So I let her do my back and such and she did the hands and feet. At first it was ok..but I NEVER lay on my back..though they did have a think to put under your knees for lower back..And by the time it was over..I had pressure in my head from laying on my back...:confused3

OMG :goodvibes I love getting massages! How quick can I get nekkid? I've been getting massages regularly every week to two weeks since I suffered whiplash in April. I LIVE for those hours. I require deep pressure, so my poor massage therapists get a work-out. But I tip 20%, so they're not too unhappy. :goodvibes

Most people I know who get them, love them.. I am not comfortable with the whole undressing thing, and they were totally fine with that. I just couldnt relax enough to enjoy it. Funny, what a vicious circle it is. I went for tension headaches and stress relief...yet, I couldnt really relax,..it was all new to me, and Im not use to strangers touching me:confused3

I know what you mean. I had to get comfortable with my clothes ON first. Once I found my two massage therapists, I gradually got more comfortable. But, yeah. I remember the first couple times feeling like I was on "high alert" the whole time. Now, I'm so comfortable with these women that it's like floating in a cloud for an hour. :goodvibes

Oh, dear.

OP, since it was your first time, you probably didn't know you can say something is NOT feeling right. I don't like deep tissue as I feel bruised afterwards (other people love them, more power to you!) so I prefer a medium-touch. Light touch tickles, so I hate those, too.

If you go again, tell them laying on your back makes you feel less relaxed. They have massage chairs you sit in that do wonders for my headaches. You are slumped forward, but fully supported. (And fully clothed!)
