Some friends of ours told us that the suggested tip amount was built into the $ paid for the cruise. Has anyone else heard of this?

I've heard that Disney Cruise vacations booked in the UK sometimes include the gratuities, but I've never heard of such a case in the USA.

We just booked our 4th DCL cruise and our TA for all 4 cruises Dana @ Cruise Planners - MicDan.com (shameless plug) has always included the tips in the cruise price. It makes it soooo easy! You get vouchers for the tip recipients and you just put the vouchers (plus any extra tip for great service) in the little envelopes and you are done! No standing in line, no searching for cash.

So, the answer is "YES" - some TAs include the recommended tip amount in the cruise price.

WOW I used Dana for the first time last year and was never given an option to pay my tips upfront. I also have our next 7 day booked with her, and still no mention of this. DO you ask her to do that? Or she does automatically?

I bboked a UK DCL holiday and our tips were fully included and Tip tickets were left in our Stateroom on the last full day to give out. I think this applies to all UK based operators, as We do not nroamlly tip and service is included in the UK.

I think Dana maybe only does this for group bookings ... we are doing a group booking with her in November, and the tips are incluced in the group rate.

For me it would be SOOOO much easier to have my envelopes done before hand and just tip in the beginning of the cruise to get it over with. That way I don't have to worry about all that cash in little envelopes, standing in line, losing my envelopes, etc. Is this an acceptable thing to do? Then I could tip extra at the end but wouldn't have to worry.

on Carnival, we did this before they started to automatically add this to your account on board. Then when we got the travel documents, there were vouchers to be placed in the envelopes. It worked really well.

We're on Holland America next. They charge $10 per person per day to your shipboard account for gratuities. If you want to give more, you can give cash at the end as usual, or if you want to give less, although I'd hate to think someone would, you can have ship services remove the fee. I think it sounds like a great plan and am pleased at the ease with which the giving of gratuities will be accomplished.

Our daugher (CM) booked our cruise for us and our gratuities were also included in the cost of the cruise. However, we ALWAYS give extra cash if the service is excellent - which of course it ALWAYS is!!!Nat:Pinkbounc

Hi we looked at booking our cruise through Virgin etc and yes you are right all of them include the tip, but if I can suggest to any U.k readers save yourself a fourtune and use Allseas.. even without the tips included we have saved.
Family of four S.P.C, NEXT MAY 3DAY £700. APPROX.
Im looking at the virgin brochure as i write and for the same time that we are going it is £540 per adult and 260 per child,
Even if you add the tips look at our savings.
The travel agent is our equivelant of abta bonded, they have been brilliant and cant do enough, we have been dealing with Sandie who I can highly reccomend, the way i look at it is the more money we save getting there the more spending money we have !!
