Tipping housekeeping?

What's the recommended tip amount for housekeeping? Is it based on the value of the hotel? Do you leave a tip daily or at the end of your stay?

Sandy

we leave daily mousekeeping envelopes that I made prior to trip ( we just got back so did all xmas envelopes) , based it on number of people in room. ( 1.00 -1.50 per day per person) The reason we did daily is that we couldn't be sure we would have the same housekeeper daily. ( this trip was 12 days and our housekeeper was the same for 8 out of the 12 days)

The customary tip is $1 per person per day. We always tip by the day, in case the Mousekeepers change while we are there.

I always tip $5 a night. That is for 2 adults and one child. We are very neat so the tip would be higher if we were slobs.

We would tip 2$ per night. Tip them daily, and leave a message saying 'Thanks!' or 'Have a great Day!', and they may add a towel animal to your room, or leave a message back!

We've done it the same way. Works great.

we leave $5 a day (each day because there may be different mousekeepers each day) and a little note to say thank you!

We typically tip a dollar a person a day, left every morning with a note. We had such incredible towel animals our last stay, though, that I left extra and also made it a point to be around to thank the housekeeper personally.

We always leave four dollars. Of course it's just my wife and me, but I have found that the better you tip, the better you're treated.
Merry Christmas!

We also did $2 a day for the two of us. The day before we left, however, we didn't receive any service. We returned back from MVMCP to find everything the way we found it. It was too late to call anyone for fresh towels or anything, and since we were leaving the next day, I just let it go. But that really surprised me!

Its just DH and I, but we usually leave between 5 and 10 a nite depending on how messy we were the nite before....

Sunkissed 212--however did you get that cool scale thing? I want one for Christmas!!!!!!

$2 per room per day...but only if I'm in there more than one night. If only one night then something about the room needs to strike me as unusually positive about it.

I think per person is a bit odd... I use all the elements of the room just as thoroughly if its just me or if I'm sharing. The only time that isn't true is if there are two beds in the room...but that extra effort doesn't seem to mandate an extra tip in my mind.

Of course there are others who think tipping mousekeeping at all is odd because it isn't a tipped position at WDW.

$5.00 per night....with nice note.....a little pixie dust goes a long way.....and if you were doing that job wouldn't you want to get a good tip every day from each room?? Think about it. :earboy2:
