Do you tip for a private tour with Disney? More specifically the animal kingdom ultimate night tour.

I’ve done many tours at WDW and they’ve never taken a tip from me, and I was told they’re not allowed.
Is that true even for a private tour where everyone is part of your own group versus a group tour where other participants are strangers?

Hmmm, Not sure but im guessing it’s the same policy. I think when you do the boat /cruises they will accept a tip but they’re not Disney employees. Might be worth it to stop into guest services when you get there and ask.

Okay. Thank you. Signature Services called me this afternoon. Among other things, I asked this question. She seemed at first not to know, then it sounded like she was looking something up, then she answered "no". I wasn't confident with her answer.

Edited To Add: Sometimes I feel like the cast members on the phone or online chat give general answers without considering the more specific portions of my questions. Anyone else feel this way?

We tipped Ultimate Night of Adventure in January; no refusal, just a gracious smile and thank you. We had $ ready for Ultimate Day of Thrills November 2017, but both guides left quickly from Tower of Terror before we had a chance. I think it helped in AK that last ride is EE and it is a quick walk across the “steeet” to RoL. My understanding is tips are expected on private tours.

Guides and any CM can accept tips. If the first offer is refused, persevere and offer the tip 2 more times.

Disney has an awful guideline where CMs can only accept tips on the 3rd offer. Be insistent 3 times and the tip will then be graciously accepted.

Tips are welcomed on the private VIP tours (the plaids). It even says so in the information sheet that they send you before the tour - something to the effect of while they are not required they are accepted / appreciated.

If it's a group tour, NOT a Plaid/private tour I don't know. We tipped our Plaid (private tour) very generously. We loved her and she was so much more than we expected.

We’ve tipped our guides on KTTK, Destinations WS tour, & WAT. Every time they accepted with a smile & thank you.

We tipped our plaid very well after having to deal with my SIL, which he did with a smile.

We tried to tip after animal kingdom tour but the guides poofed.

Might seem like a dumb question, but these tours are like 450 to 650 per hour so for 8 hours at $650 is $5200. So would you tip the conventional 18 to 20%? That would be like a $1,000 tip!

I'm planning to do 20%. This is our first tour but it seems to me you'd tip the same way you would if you booked a private charter trip, or any other type of excursion or experience where staff caters specifically to you (and your family/invited guests). I will put it in an envelope beforehand. I like to leave the envelope unsealed so that in the unlikely event that we have a terrible experience I can discreetly remove a few hundred before giving it.

I’ve tried every tour and every time they’ve turned me down.... interesting!

Yes, I do.

I have taken many tours (all group, like KTTK, BM, etc.) and have always tipped.
