Tipping at the resorts

If you use magical express how do you tip the person who brings your bags to your room since you are not there? I always top housekeeping and after reading on the dis we have tipped the me bus driver the last couple of years if we out a bag or stroller under the bus. Of course we tip in the restaurants or at the poolbar.

When the bellmen do the Magical Express deliveries, a set amount is added onto their pay per room, but it's not a huge amount & if you're in the room & they're also bringing up any other bags/deliveries/etc. for you, a tip would be welcomed!

We tip Bell Service, valet and waiters/bartender. Housekeeping is NOT a tipped position, therefore I don't leave a tip for them any longer. The housekeepers make around $9 to $12 an hour, no way I'm going to tip them.

If I don't have change to tip on me at the time, I don't use the service.

I didn't know that mouskeeping is no longer a tipped position - if you don't mind my asking, where/when did you hear that? The last I heard from a friend who was a mousekeeper, they were the same as bellmen/servers/etc. I'd love to know this for sure, I'll have to check at work this week.

We have tipped the bus driver for handling our bags, $1 a bag. Never have had a bellhop, and we don't have a car so we don't use valet (but I would tip for both if used).

Tipping is such a crazy subject. From reading multiple forums on this board I see people use mousekeeping for different reasons. I have also read if you call they will tell you it is not a tipped position. Personally, we use mousekeeping once during our stay, and that is to take out garbage and for fresh towels, soap, etc. Being a bit (okay maybe a lot of bit) of a germaphobe I really don't want them touching the kids toys after cleaning the bathroom with chemicals. We don't see mousekeeping as a maid who cleans up after our strewn clothes all over the floor, like many people have said they do. Our room is always neat. I also bring my own Lysol wipes just because we go during flu season anyway. Therefore there is always a do not disturb sign on the door.

To each their own and everyone should be free to do what they feel most comfortable doing.

I think I read that here from another CM, that housekeeping has never been a tipped position. I read it somewhere else, but it's been awhile, I don't remember where. This is a hot topic, there has been tons of stuff posted about it over the last few years.

If I call and ask for extra towels or something that they have to bring to me, then I will give a tip.
