Is it custom to tip the concierge guys at the hotel who takes the luggage and how much ? I was thinking about 3 bob and a blood orange each !
Not that im tight you understand .....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hi. When We stayed there in March (:cloud9:) We tipped the chap that brought Our bags up 3 euros. He seemed happy enough with that :)
Have a great time there :thumbsup2
Dawn.

I would always tip for good service eg bell services, table service restaurants and concierge.

Similarly I would tip €3 for bags and 10 - 20% at restaurants :)

falls on floor..... me wallet's getting lighter by the minute!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I've just realised I don't have a wallet as my wife has all the money:lmao:

Oh my...all my travel books tell me that tips are included in the price of the meals in Europe. That leaving a few Euros is plenty. Is this not true?

You may find some restaurants in Europe where a service charge is included, but I would not say it is the norm.
As a waiter in a past life I definitely tip since I know the work involved.

In Paris and other major cities there may be other charges; which the waiting staff do not see, for pavement dining, musician, preferred table etc.

As a comparison our waiter at Annette's Diner was superb. We left €10. This was on a bill for 5 people.

In France, if a service charge has already been added it will be itemised as service compris on your bill (check).

None of the restaurants at DLRP add this already to the bill and neither did the restaurant we ate at in Paris.

However, we were in London for a few days recently and service charge had been added on to all our restaurant bills.

It's rare that service charge is included unless it's for a big party (6+). Whilst tips aren't expected in the same way they are in America, I would consider it rude to not leave a tip. Normally at least 10% in a restaurant and taxis and a couple of euros to baggage handlers.

Thank you all.....how embarrassing for me if I had not read this. Will be sure to tip.
