Tipping at HDD and character meals?

Is the tip included in the price at Hoop De Doo or do we leave a tip on the table?

Also, I'm not clear on what the usual practice is at buffets like a character meal. Is it the full 15% even though we are serving ourselves or is it different for a buffet?

Is there a "tips on tipping" thread anywhere?

The tip is included at HDD. If your server has been exceptional you are welcome to leave a few extra dollars for them of course.

At the buffets a 10-15% tip is customary--it is not included. We generally tip 20% for full service and 15% for buffets--although there are some servers at buffets who work their tails off and we leave them 20% as well--they deserve it!

Just concurring with Ducklite. I know it is customary to leave a lesser tip for the buffets, but quite often these servers work very hard to keep up with drinks and clearing plates. I usually plan on a 20 % tip and go up or down according to service. As far as Hoop Dee Doo, last year we left an additonal tip, the service was well above and beyond, this year we didn't leave anything extra becasue it was just ok. If you pick up your ticket and read it it spells out how much of the total cost is the tip. You could easily adjust from there. I believe ours said something like $38. was the tip amount for the @$250.00 we paid for the dinner. I felt this was more than enough for the service we received this time!

We have had some exceptional service at character buffets and we did tip as we would in a sit down resturant. Two that stand out for such wonderful service are Donald's and Hollywood and vine. We also on our last trip had an outstanding waitress at HDDR and we did "slip" her a little extra. She kept finding chicken legs for DS and found him strawberry shortcake "plain". You however are under no obligation to tip extra there.
