Tipping at DVC resorts? Help!

Can anybody provide some general tipping help and guidelines while staying at a DVC resort? Do you leave a tip for housekeeping-if so, only for a 4 day or longer stay? How much is enough? Also-how about for luggage? Do you tip when bags are stored until the room is ready? And then tip again when they bring them up to the room? What is a fair tip for this-ie is it per bag? Do most people have someone bring their bags up or are there a lot of 'do-it-yourselfers? It seems there are a lot of opportunities to tip-even on the Mears ride over-and advice for when, where and how much would be appreciated!

No, we do not tip housekeeping. There have been some debates on this board about this subject! Yes, we do tip the bellhops when we use them. When we were there in March we were in Bldg 62 which was a stone's throw from the HH. We only had a few suitcases and some groceries. We managed on our own!! When we use bellhops, we usually tip $1/bag.

I think Doc probably has the better "scoop" on this. Disney World (as I recall), generally considers that housekeeping staff are a non-tipping position.

This is silly in my thinking, and I will continue to tip.

That being said, we usually tip when we check out, but rarely on trash and towel day (mainly because I lose track of when that will happen). But in addition to the tip, and more important in my mind, we will:

• Load the dishwasher
• Strip the bed linens and fold the blanket/comforter (since those are typically not changed)
• Remove all the trash
• Put all the towels, etc. in a single place (usually the jacuzzi)
• Do a general (very quick) tidy.

The tip then depends on the size of the accomodations. I usually leave a $20 for a GV, and smaller for smaller accomodations.
