Hi,
I've seen this discussion a long time ago on the boards with alot of different opinions can't seem to find the original:confused3 Should one tip for a buffet and if so what is considered an okay tip without breaking the bank? Is pre-plated bufffet tipped the same as full table service or the same as buffet? I've always been a decent tipper so I want to leave what would be considered appropriate for this type of dining. Thanks!

One should tip for a buffet.

If you have six or more people in your party, WDW will charge an automatic 18% gratuity for your party, even at buffets.

If you have five or fewer, the tip amount is discretionary. Dining plan customers get "suggested" tip amounts printed on their receipts - I believe they calculate 15% and 18% but it could be 18% and 20%. You will find that some prefer not to tip that much for a buffet, and that some even prefer to tip more.

We tipped 18% at Crystal Palace. A little too much in my opinion because they only get your drinks. :confused3

I always tip around 20% regardless of if it's a buffet or not, as long as the service is good. The servers still greet you, get drinks, clear plates, take your picture with the characters for you, etc.
