Making a few ADRs for my bf and I with my co-worker and her family. It will put our party at 7 people. Will we be subjected to automatic gratuity even though the bills will be split because we are two separate families?

From our experience (we are usually a party of 7, too) this has always been the case....I think 18%... My parents usually go with us and they pay separately. We have only had one issue with the gratuity being added in. The service was not good at ALL, so we spoke with a manager and he took it off.

We were with my parents on our last trip making us a party of 6. From our experience, the answer is yes. We had an automatic 18% gratuity added to each of our bills.

Yes the gratuituy will be included and some places are not overly happy about issuing two checks.

Never had an issue with the bill being seperated, as long as you tell them in advance. And yes the gratuity is automatic for 6 people and over, doesn't matter if it is different bills.
It is based on the number of people at the table.
