Tip: How we save $$ for Disney

One idea I'm trying is to throw $5 bills into the coin jar when I get them. Dollar bills are too small, anything else is too big, but $5 here and there will add up sooner than later. :teacher:

away. Everytime I return something and get change/cash back, I put it in our bank. Since it's money all ready spent- I don't miss it!

Also, just by putting $30 per week in my ING account, I will have $1500 put away for our next trip in January 2006. I have $20 come out of my husbands checking account each week and $10 out of my account each week. That $1500 will take care of spending and food expenses and we don't miss the small amount.

I also started a Mary Kay business which has been lots of fun and has really motivated to get out there so I can go to the happiest place on earth! :earsboy:

We do the change thing too- I have a toddler still in diapers, so I took an old box of wipes, and decorated it with Disney stickers- it has 2 lids on it, and I taped down the bottom lid. The top lid only has a small opening, so that way money can go in, but it is much harder to get back out ! :earboy2: Also, it makes it really easy to put in dollar bills, too.

Another thing I started to do is every time I use a coupon for something, or use a grocery shopping card for a discount, I put my total savings from that trip into the Disney fund. It's amazing how much a couple bucks here and there add up!

my family just started this new one:
empty bottle return $ goes in "the jar". Where I work I've had people insist on getting there return $ instead of having it deducted from there total. I always wondered why. An elderly gentleman told me it was so he could take his grandkids on vacation every year.
When I quit smoking I used to put a $ in for every cig I wanted but didn't have, we haven't dug into it yet, but it's probably enough to pay for the whole vacation :rolleyes1

We do the change jar thing too. I figure we save about $100 a month in change. I also buy $50 worth of Disney dollars every week. It really adds up and you don't feel it as much. I also pay $200 a month on our room until it's paid and we buy APs so we get two years vacation (we got two weeks before the AP ends) for the price of one. Hope TDS doesn't run out of disney dollars and hope AP rates for room holds up.
