Tiny vacation issue - WWYD??

The update :

I just talked to my mom to double check when she will be here.

She said they are leaving in the MORNING on Friday, since my other brother (he is 22 and in college) will be with her until Sunday, when the other brother will come up with my dad, and the 22 year old will leave with my dad.

So...
Now we can find a hotel to stay in on Friday. I am pulling rank with DH and we are going to do this! It will be so much easier on us, plus we can park at the hotel (hopefully - if not, then we will be so much closer to the hotel).

Now...... anybody have any suggestions for good, inexpensive Portland hotels around the airport???

:woohoo:

I found the Red Lion airport hotel in Portland. Located less than 1 mile from the airport, complimentary shuttle to/from the airport, and I can park my car there for up to 7 days. The cost would be $109+tax for the night & parking.

Good deal???

I just googled "park fly deals pdx" and found a tripadvisor post from '07. Might give you a starting point for the hotels that offer that.

I went to the PDX website and found the Ground Transportation info link. There you can choose hotel shuttles from the dropdown menu, and that yields a list of hotels with shuttles. From there you could backtrack and find hotels with park/fly deals!

Sorry I don't KNOW of any hotels around there...

It's this one :

I was looking online at the PDX (airport) parking and the long term parking is showing RED right now (minimal parking available). Since it is not even close to Spring Break, I totally think we made the right choice with this hotel, as the parking will save our rears from having to search for a parking spot. Plus with long term parking being $15/day, we would have to pay for around 5 days of parking ($75), and the hotel is only a bit more than that.

I didn't have to plead my case that much to DH either. After I explained it, he was all for it.

The hotel seems nice too. The parking & shuttle will be wonderful!!

Looks good. I didn't even know it was there :) Do you have a AAA card? Seems as tho you can get an even lower rate with one.
Can you let me know how you like it? DD & I may be using park & fly this summer when we head off to Austin.

Sure. I will let you know how it all works out.

I am so confident that I made the right choice for our family. It is a good feeling.
:)

Not only will you start the trip off relaxed and rested, but you get to begin your DL vacation that much earlier! When are you leaving?

We will check in to the PDX hotel on March 27th, and fly out on the 28th. 4 Nights at Hojo, and home again on April 1st.

It's coming up pretty soon! We're coming home on the 1st from Hawaii. Maybe we'll see you in the airport!

I always stay at Shilo Suites when flying out of Portland. The rooms have tv's in the bathroom--something that fascinates my children. :rotfl:

In the past, I've gone through Teels Travel in Corvallis (over the phone, even though I'm in Eugene.) They used to (and possibly still) have a deal where the Shilo is about $84 per night, including up to a week (or two) of parking. That's half what it was calling the hotel directly, so even though I hate going through a middleman, I do for that. They have a website, but it seems messed up right now.

Edit--Disclaimer: it's been a year and a half since we had that rate.

Edit: I just called Teel's and the new rate is $88 + tax, which includes 14 days of parking. I made my reservation for June. :woohoo:
