Monday 30th July

We all woke around half 8 and DH and DD got ready for the pool and stopped at the lounge for breakfast first. DS and I followed them about half an hour later. I’d woken with a headache but it wasn’t too bad and took some tablets. We stayed at the Volcano pool for an hour or so then DS and I went to the quiet pool which was great as it had a 7ft 8inch deep end. We stayed there for about another hour but my headache was getting worse. DS was also feeling out of sorts so we went back to the room. He watched some TV and played on his Nintendo and I dozed on and off. My headache was getting a lot worse and I was starting to feel sick.

DD and DH came up a couple of hours later and we just stayed in the room. The kids wanted to go to MK but DH didn’t so I ended up taking them even though I felt really rough. I was annoyed that DH wouldn’t make the effort to take them and told him, in a huff, that I’d be canceling the ADR for Kona that night  .

It was about 3pm and we caught the Monorail to MK and once through the turn styles we headed to Tomorrow land. I normally love Main Street but all the different smells were making me feel very sick. The kids wanted to ride Stitch and I got as far as the entrance to the first chamber but I couldn’t go any further so I gave DD one of the radio’s and told them I’d wait at the exit. I bought a bottle of water and went and sat outside the shop. They came out after a while and next we headed over to Buzz. I went on this one with them and despite feeling rough still managed to score over 600,000 DD managed a very respectable 480,000 while DS only got 32,000 and sulked for ages over it.

Space Mountain was next and I went as far as the chicken exit before bailing out and waiting where you get off the ride. DS and DD had a great time and we all did the silly waves into the monitors as you go up the moving walkway to the exit. The kids wanted to go to Frontier land for some McD fries to we walked to Toon Town to get the train. Unfortunately it was experiences some problems and was only running to Main Street and then back to Toon Town in reverse. We got off at Main Street and walked through the shop’s pin trading as we went. I stopped at the first aid station and got some extra strength pain killers and a decongestant tablet as I’m sure it was a sinus headache.

We walked to the fries place and had 3 large fries and a coke. I was starting to feel better and the fries were the first thing I’d eaten since breakfast. When we finished the fries we went back to Aloha Isle where we had a chocolate soft serve for DS and Pineapple, vanilla swirl for DD and a Pineapple Dole Whip for me – just what the Dr ordered. They were lovely and we really enjoyed them.

The kids had a reservation at the Neverland Club at 6pm and it was already 5:15pm so we made out way back to the Poly. I dropped them at the kids club and as I was feeling better and not annoyed with DH anymore I phoned to see if he wanted to go to Kona. He’d been asleep and had just woken so he didn’t want to go. I actually didn’t mind as I didn’t fancy a bit meal, I cancelled our ADR and went back to the room. DH and I just went down to the lounge and had something to eat there. It was Sushi night and we had some lovely Sushi with salad, mini pittas and humus and cheese and crackers. There was also make your own soup, I added chicken and noodles to mine but there was also shrimp and quite a few other items. DH said that the reason he didn’t want to go to MK was because we’d decided that our time at the Poly was for just chilling and we weren’t going to do any parks. It was what we’d decided so I reluctantly agreed he had a point.

We stayed in the lounge for a while then went back to the room to watch the Disney Cruise Line DVD that a cruise line employee had kindly dropped off at the Poly for us. Since they mentioned a Tiki Fest cruise in 2009 DH thinks this is a great idea. He doesn’t know that we already have one booked for next year although I’ve more or less decided not to go in 2008 and move the booking to 2009.

I collected the kids and on the way back saw Lisa from Magical Vacations and her husband again, we had a quick chat, then Steve and a few of the other Tiki Festers (sp) in the lounge. When we got back to the room the kids and I went to check out the evening deserts. There was nothing that DS wanted but DD picked a few mini cakes and we took some back for DH.

We were all tired (again) so after watching some TV we settled into bed at about half 9 and DH went to try and photograph Wishes from the beach. He didn’t get on very well but as I have no photo’s from today here are two photo’s he took.

We were all asleep by half 10.

Tomorrow - Back to the villa

sorry you felt poorly, you seem to have managed a great day anyway :)

What a shame you felt poorly, the Poly sounds wonderful:thumbsup2

I'm so pleased that you felt better later in the day, as it would've been sad to miss out on a Pineapple Dole Whip :thumbsup2 ;)

Mandy :)

At least you ended up having a lovely day, shame about the headache.

Oh Jakki what a pain about your headache. I'm glad you got the better of it in the end.

At least you got to enjoy Chef Dick's sushi though

I remember how sick everyone was on your last trip so I was especially sad for you to have to feel poorly again this year.

Glad it got better and you made the best of the day

I really think it was due to the heat and me not drinking enough. I don't usually get them but I had a couple of headaches on this trip and when I spoke to one of the CM's at the first aid station she said that the effects of heat stroke were cumulative and if you didn't drink enough one day it would affect you the next day as well. Once I'd spoken to the CM we got lots of Gatoraid (on her advice) and I made sure we drank it - the headaches were much less after that.

Sorry to hear about the headache, Jakki, and I'm pleased to hear that you felt better later. Well done on your excellent Buzz score, even more impressive with a headache!
