Friday 3rd August
I was awake at 6:45am again so I pottered about until the others surfaced. DS was up at just after 7. Theres something wrong as weve noticed hes been very quiet for the past couple of days and hasnt eaten much. This morning he just lay on the sofa but he couldnt tell me what was troubling him I dont know if its something physical or he is finding the trip overwhelming due to his Autism. I let him chill for a while and he looked at the instruction books that came with his new Lego. DD was next up and we woke DH at about half 8.
Todays plan is to visit MGM and we have an ADR for lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine in. DS was very reluctant to get going and said that he just has no energy, we persuaded him to get ready and we left just after 9. DH decided to take the back way into MGM and we were soon parking up. It seemed busy but bag check was quick, cant say the same about the turn styles as there seemed to be about a 100 numpties in front of us who either kept putting their ticket in upside down or back to front. We eventually got into the park despite the numpties best efforts to stop us.
DS wasnt up for RnR so we decided to take it easy today and made our way to the Hat via lots of pin trading with the CMs in the shops. Donald and Daisy were there so DD got in line to wait while DS and I looked for pins. He picked 3 limited edition Stitch ones and a limited edition Minnie one for DD and we did some more pin trading.
We met up with DH & DD in the line and got our photos taken with Donald and Daisy just before they went in for a lemonade and a lie down after standing in the hot sun for ages. It was hot today - it felt like theyd made up for the cool down yesterday by doubling the heat factor today.
We did the great movie ride which is a favorite, then it was off for a quick look round the Star Wars shop where a CM asked DS and DD if they wanted a game of Darth Vader v Yoda Tic Tac Toe - they looked at her like she had three heads until I explained Tic Tac Toe is American speak for noughts and crosses . Diplomatic incident over - the kids played and were awarded a Magical Moment certificate. Not quite the night in Cinderellas Castle I was hoping for.
Next up was Muppets 3D followed by a stint in Honey I Shrunk playground. We met Kim on the way out
We made our Way to Sci-Fi for olur ADR and I left my lot on the sofas in the coffee shop and went to check in. Its lovely here and they even have a secret bakery.
When I gave my last name the CM looked very confused and asked if I was with another group. It seems someone with the same surname had just checked in for their ADR. I went to the rest room and by the time I got back wed been called to our car. We really liked this place when we were her at Christmas but for some reason we were all under whelmed this time (including DH who was on his first visit.) The food was OK but nothing special and the restaurant was freezing, we all left without deserts just to get warm again outside. I used my DDE card and saved $10 on the total.
We wanted to do the back lot tour but the wait was 35 minutes so we gave it a miss. You cant walk down streets of America as that whole area is boarded off so we went back round past the Hat and into Animation Station where we watched a great mini show with Mulan. We played a bit in the interactive area outside before deciding to call it a day.
Our last stop was the ice-cream place just outside RnR and once wed eaten these we made our way out of the park and back to the villa. It was all in the pool once we got back but DS only lasted about half an hour before he wanted to go in. DD stayed a bit longer and I called DH in about 4pm before he fried himself.
DS had been making some of the Star Wars Lego he bought yesterday but some of it was tricky and he was getting annoyed so DH helped him. We decided to go out to dinner and it was Golden Corral night. Same old meal (probably literally the same old meal) As we left there was an incident in the car park, there was an abandoned car which looked like it had crashed into one of the islands that separate parking areas. The Sheriff, Golden Corral officials and a tow truck were on the scene. The driver must have been one hungry guy as he couldnt wait to get in to GC for his dinner
Back at the villa it was time for family pool night (the dry pool) and we played DH & DD v DS and I best of three, then DH & DS v DD and I best of 3 - lets just say that DS was never on the winning side which didnt help his humour too much. After all that excitement it was Ice-cream all round and some TV before bed.
Tomorrow - Festival Bay for a Yu-Gi-Oh Thang for DS and of course some shopping.
