Tinks Summer 2006 Tour – Day 4 The Florida Mall

Cast

Me - 44 Chief planner loves all things Disney
DH - 50 Designated driver can’t wait for Vero Beach
DS – 9 Hunting for Yu-Gi-Oh Cards (again)
DD – 8 Minnie’s number 1 fan also loves Vero Beach

Monday 31st July

Firstly let me start by telling you that this turned out to be a 9 hour shopping marathon so any of the men reading this and those girls that don’t like shopping should skip today and move on to day 5.

DS woke me at 7 by jumping on me for a hug. Shocked awake I had no choice but to get up. We had breakfast then got ready for our trip to the Florida Mall, we set out just after 9am and got there just before 10am. We parked outside JC Penny’s and walked through to the mall. Penny’s were having a 70% off sale and I spotted a bag that I liked. The kids were hungry as they didn’t eat much of their breakfast so before any purchases could be made we headed off to the food court. DH & I had a coffee while DS had a chocolate muffin and DD had a slice of pizza followed by some Ice-cream (yes I know it’s only 10am but we are on holiday)

We were fascinated watching a security guard whizzing around on a Segway and asked if we could take his photo.

Once the troops were fed and watered we started to shop and I got some shampoo and a new paddle brush in Aveda, we browsed in a few more shops and got some Nintendo games that were on sale then the kids spent some time in the Playmobile shop. We did a circuit of the mall then went back to JC Penny’s where I got the bag which was reduced from $99 to $26 (a real bargain) and a school backpack for DD.

From the Florida Mall we went to Toys R Us where DS got some (yes you’ve guessed it) Yu-Gi-Oh cards. DD didn’t want anything as she had seen a toy dog on one of those carts in the Florida Mall and kept on and on about getting it. From Toys R Us we went to Circuit City to try and get the MP3 player that we had promised DD for her birthday but it was out of stock. DD was still going on about the dog and she wanted to go back to get it with her money. She kept reminding me that it was her money so she should be allowed to spend it how she wanted. It was a bit of old tat but it was her money and it was up to her how to spend it. We headed back into the mall and stopped in the food court for lunch. When we went to look at the dog again DD decided that it wasn’t that good after all and that she would spend her money elsewhere.

We left the mall and went to Best Buy to get DS’s Pink Panther DVD that was on special offer at $8.99. While we were there the kids chilled while playing with the PS2’s.

We also bought a cordless mouse for the laptop and a new PS2 controller. From Best Buy we went to the Premium Outlets, on our way the kids watched the Pink Panther DVD in the car. By now it was very hot but we carried on in the best tourist on holiday tradition. We made a stop at TCBY for some ice-cream or should I say frozen yogurt. Then we got some new trainers for DH in Addidas (buy one get on half price) some T-shirts in Nike, some more T-shirts in the Disney Character Warehouse, some jeans and a couple of tops in Tommy Hillfiger for DD. It was now half 5 and there was no point going back to the villa so after a quick stop in Publix we went to the Golden Corral.

During the journey the sky was very dark and we could see a lot of lightning. It was just starting to rain as we arrived at GC and within a few minutes of getting inside there was a torrential downpour with lots of thunder and lightning. The power flickered in the restaurant a few times but didn’t go off. By the time we ate our dinner the rain had all but stopped. The kids were tired so after finishing watching the rest of the Pink Panther DVD at home we went to bed around 9pm.

Today was a very productive day and we managed to spend over $500. Tomorrow is Typhoon Lagoon.

What a shop! I guess tomorrow will be relaxing at TL

Great report. Now if the security guard walked more instead of using the Segway...... :teeth:

Sounds like quite a quiet, relaxing day but I bet it was a tiring one. You know everytime I walk through Penney's I see a bag I like. We liked the Apple shop in the Florida Mall the best.
