Sunday 30th July
I woke up today at 5am DD was awake so there was no chance of getting back to sleep. I decided to make some coffee and managed to recreate Illuminations by turning on and off every light in the house trying to find the one for the kitchen. Luckily this light show didnt wake the boys but probably woke half the houses on the other side of the lake. DD & I had some breakfast and then watched some TV. I started to feel really tired again around 7 but the boys got up so there was no chance of going back to sleep.
We got ready and left for Animal Kingdom at half 8. We were parked up by 8:45am and they were just starting to let people in. We went in through the Rainforest Café entrance and beat most of the crowds to rope drop. The bus with Minnie, Goofy and Pluto came along and after their usual performance we were off in the direction Everest along with what seemed like half the population of Orlando. I had decided to ride EE but if you remember what a wuss I was last year on Kraken then you might not think this was a good idea and oh how I wished Id listened to you.
On the way to EE we started the first of many pin-trading encounters and managed to trade a total of 20 pins today. We made reasonably quick progress and the standby time was only 15 minutes but we grabbed a fast pass as well, which was good immediately. We went straight on and we were right at the back in rows 16 and 17. As soon as it started off I realised me going on wasnt a good idea and spent the entire ride with my eyes closed wishing it was over and fighting the urge to throw up. Im sure the people in the next carriage wouldnt have appreciated that special effect
According to the whoops and hollers of DD, DS, and DH it was a great ride but I was just praying for it to end. When we got off I went and sat in the shade to recover while the gang went on again. I must of looked ghastly as an American lady kept asking me if I was OK and could she get me anything. I didnt like to tell her that this is how I always looked . The motley crew were soon back and the plan had been to go to Khali River Rapids but I was still feeling rough so we decided to head for the next Lion King show. On the way we stopped in Dinoland and the kids did Primeval Whirl and Tricaterecopts Spin and also did a couple of more pin trading stops.
We made the show and DS wanted to sit in Elephant (the only section he hasnt sat in yet) while DD and DH sat in Lions. Both of the kids were picked to be in the show but both refused - DS said he would have really liked to have gone up but he said the crowds made him feel scared. We all really enjoyed this show - especially the tumbling monkeys and it is a must see at AK.
We were now feeling really tired again and there was no point trudging around just for the sake of it. We decided to call it a day but not before we had a couple of ice-creams and got our picture taken with Koda and Keania from Brother Bear which is one of DSs favorite movies.
We walked through the tree of life on the way out stopping to look at some of the animals.
Lunch was at the McDonalds on site and we had chicken strips and salads and the kids went mad at the refill drinks machine. We stopped at Walgreens for a Sunday paper to see all the coupons and there was one for the Pink Panther DVD that DS wanted, it was on offer this week at $8.99 instead of the usual $19.99 in Best Buy. When we got back to the villa DS started to make the Spongebob Lego he had bought yesterday while I did some laundry and typed up the trip reports and DD and DH went in the pool. DS and I joined them a bit later and we spent the afternoon splashing around. We came in around 5pm and I set about making something to eat once we had all had our showers.
DS decided to spill coke all over the lovely cream sofas. I tried to clean it as best as I could but, will have to wait until tomorrow so see if it the stain has come out. We chilled and watched some TV before bed at around 9pm (lightweights - I know)
We have had really good weather so far and we only saw our first bit of rain at around 7pm when there was a downpour that lasted about half an hour.
Tomorrow we are going to the Florida Mall.
