Tinkerbell’s flight contingent on what besides weather?

I just got back to my room from Magic Kingdom. I thought Tinkerbell flew during Happily Ever After unless there was a weather issue: rain, thunder/lightning, wind, cold. None of those were an issue tonight. It didn’t rain all day, no storms in the area, no wind at all, and it definitely wasn’t cold. I’ve seen her come down on some cold nights, so I know that wasn’t the issue. Is there something else that would keep her from flying? I should have asked a cast member at the park, but I didn’t think about it. I searched on the forums but didn’t see anything other than weather.

Yea what PP said... my sister used to work for someone who was either a sibling or significant other of a Wishes era friend of tink and was told they have daily weigh ins

It would seem like if whoever was scheduled was sick or didn’t make weight they would bring another tinkerbell in. I’m not sure how many they have. But it could have been a last minute thing.

that probably depends on how close the time of the unexpected-ness it was to the flight. I don't know when they weigh, or when they show up, or if one got unexpectedly sick, or if the backup was on vacation.....the world may never know haha

Not that easy. Isn't like there is a phone a flying Tink job fill in.
There's only so many.
This is the very reason they NEVER guarantee any character will appear anywhere on property. You never know what will keep one from appearing.

Just a few possibilities...A CM could have been sick, not happy with the equipment/rigging/safety, or didn’t weigh in at the proper amount...

^^^ This is what we were told when we took the Keys To The Kingdom Tour. Tinkerbell gets to make the final decision regarding go/no go.

It's kind of the same thing with the Tumbling Monkeys at the FOTLK show (and probably a bunch of other things around the parks). health and equipment safety are the big factors.

Tinkerbell could twist her ankle on her way up the castle. The cable, harness, rigging, etc. could have some sort of malfunction. Anything like that can happen. I really wanted to see if there was some other non-weather issue that might have a similar frequency or predictability.

If they only have so many, and the others have reached their limit for the week or whatever and one gets sick, you can't make them come in....or as somebody else said, if the rigging wouldn't work, MINUTES before the flight, there is no way to get somebody there that quickly....

You likely would not have gotten the real answer from a CM. When I was in the college program and worked parade crowd control, we were supposed to say something like "Tinkerbell had to fly back to Neverland to help the lost boys."

And what were the real answers in your experience if not weather related?

The CM would likely have given you a generic answer, like the other person posted. Something about her flying back to Neverland or something.
A character appearance is never guaranteed, and they don't owe park guests an answer.

My main assignment when I was in the college program was working at Cosmic Ray's. I occasionally picked up overtime work doing parades. Of those times, only once did Tinkerbell not fly. What I was told was that someone had called in sick.
