Thought I'd start a new thread for all of our Tinker Bell Weekend race reports!! How did your races go?

I did all 3 races, and loved all of them! The weather was so much cooler in the mornings than in Florida last weekend, and much cooler than last year's Tinker Bell weekend, too!

I'd never done this 5K before, and it was so fun that it was basically all in the parks or I the backstage areas! I will say, this is definitely not one to come do if you want to just run it, unless you get to the start early and be in the front. I spend a lot of time walking, especially during the first mile, because the course was so tight and packed. It was still super fun, though!

I loved the 10K course, too! Again, so much in the parks! When we finally hit the city streets, it felt so quick, only a mile and a half, until we were back to the park! And I saw a beautiful sunrise! This one was great if you want to feel the experience of the half, of both park and street running, but not the full distance.

The half was so fun! I was running faster this year than last (despite this being my 7th race in the last 10 days), so I was much further along before the sun came out, and when it did, it was at my back! Also, I'm from Seattle, and was wearing my Seahawks tech shirt, and I loved the crowds yelling "Go Hawks!" as I ran by! I even ran the last mile and a half with some other Seahawk fans in their awesome "TinkerHawks" tutus and 12th Man wings! I had a blast, and it was the perfect motivation to keep me running strong to the finish!

I hope everyone else had a great weekend, too! Now I'm off to the airport to head back to Seattle for our playoff game! Today has been the best day so far! :)

I will probably come back and post a longer report later but for now I just wanted to say that I really loved this race! I did the half this morning, started in B and worked very hard to just "run my own race" and stick to my goal of finishing, upright, smiling, and hopefully not injured, puking or passing out! I don't stop for pictures, just not my thing. i can say that I succeeded in my goal. Much redemption after my disastrous wine and dine.

I loved running through the Disneyland and CA adventure parks. It was truly magical to me. I even had tears welling up when I ran through the castle. To think I almost didn't do this race because so much bad luck and complications that came up in the last month. But I'm so glad I did. It wasn't easy by any means. And I still felt like I battled those last 3.1 miles more than I wish I had to. But I am overall pleased with the experience and would do it again or recommend it. The local support was awesome, and spectators were so energizing. I can't explain how cool those red hat ladies are. I was expecting maybe, 15-20 of them? There must have been 100 or 200 hundred of them at least. Again, so awesome! The signs were often hilarious or just motivating and the cheerfulness of some of the Disney volunteers, out there at 5:30 am, telling us "if u can do this, I can too" running back and forth on the side walk backstage in her uniform or telling us how awesome we all were- I really appreciate that kind of thing.

My feet are killing me but we are now in the parks, I'm mostly waiting while DH and DS ride rides but I just wanted to say thanks to all of the DIS runners who encouraged me to keep trying and do what it took to get here. I'm so glad I did.

This is still my favorite race. I get to keep my "Perfect Pixie" status in spite of running injured. I ran my own race and am so happy my knee held up and I could keep going. Enjoyed seeing CM's we know backstage, those enthusiastic Red Hat Ladies and of course my family cheering me on. I am so happy right now that I may even wear my I did it shirt to my knee surgery appointment next week.....just because wearing my medal may be a little too much :)

Loved This Race!!

My First Disneyland race and it was awesome. I loved the ease of getting to the Corrals and the whole morning routine. It was so much easier and less stressful than the WDW races.

I enjoyed the run. It was a little difficult not being as familiar with DL trying to figure out where I was in relation to known landmarks especailly in the backstage areas. I loved the neon at cars land and the WOC lights.

My DH started in B Corral and passed me at some point. I got text messages for both of us that pinged at certain check points in the race. I heard mine ping at the 5k mark and than his about 20s later. Then at the 10k mark I guess his pinged and then mine, literally within 10s of each other. So somewhere in Downtown Disney, back stage of DL he passed me and neither of us noticed at all!

I had a great race to the point of actually starting out a little too conservative. All my splits were negative which is a nice accomplishment. I still managed a PR but I ended knowing I could've gone even faster. A perfect excuse to do it all again!

Sooo glad you were able to finish and that the knee didn't give you too many problems!!

I will be writing a longer report later, but for now, let me just say I had fun! This was my first West Coast race, and I have to say I LOVED just walking out my hotel door 30 minutes prior to race time. So awesome. And that much park time was fabulous!!!! I loved it all and had a great run to boot.

Ok so this is basically C&P'd from an email I sent out to my friends once I got home. None of them have done a rundisney race yet so I'm trying to convince them they need to do one! I did teh 10K, Half and DD did the kids race so this is kinda long.

So the weekend was awesome.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, RunDisney puts on a fantastic race. FANTASTIC. They’re organized, they don’t run out of stuff, they’re fun. They’re worth the money. Especially when you start comparing it to Nike!

The expo was great. There was zero line to pick up the bibs and T-shirts and goodie bags by the time we got there. On Saturday I did wait 1.5 hours in line to have someone tape up my ankle at the KT tape booth but it was needed and worth it. I made an attempt to get the Minnie mouse shoes on Friday but it didn’t work out. So I decided it wasn’t meant to be. Sounds like I could have gotten them on Sunday but I didn’t try. Mommy bought me a cute new sparkle skirt to run in with my Niners Jersey on Sunday. Love it! So cute!

The trip was overall a great trip. We stayed on property at the Paradise Pier hote which is the cheapest of the 3 disney hotels but its also the one closest to the start/finish line for the races. The races all literally finished behind the hotel in the parking lot so my walk back after my 2 races and Brynns kids race was maybe 100 yards. Normally I woldn’t pay the $ to stay at a Disney hotel but if I ever do a Disney race again I will totally fork out the $ to stay here. Saved me at least 10 miles of walking back and forth over the course of the weekend. And it saved me a couple hours of sleep too cause I was able to sleep in a bit longer since my walk to the races was so short.

Saturday morning my alarm was set for 5:00am. Headed down about 5:30. Found my friend and went to our corrals. Race started at 6:00. We had fun with it. Took pics when we wanted to take pics. Waited in lines for Characters and took pics with them. We even ran into some of our other friends while in character lines. It was a blast. My complaints are that we were in the last corral and kinda far back so there were a LOT of walkers in front of us. Especially the first half of the race. It was very hard to run. But we weren’t looking to PR or anything so not a big deal. At one point we were in line to take a picture with Mater and McQueen in DCA and the “official pacer” aka “the balloon lady” passed us! We had to sprint to get ahead of her. Fortunately we did. But we heard on Facebook that like 500 people behind us got swept around the 4 mile mark! Never want to be that close to the sweeper again lol. Our time for the 10K was a very sad 1:43:38. But it didn’t matter. We had fun and earned our medals. After the 10K we had DDs kids race. She wasn’t feeling good but she was still excited. My mom got a picture of her running but I missed it. But she was super proud of her medal! After that I gave her some childrens Tylenol and she was feeling better in a couple of hours. After hanging out in the room a bit and getting taped up at the expo we went to Disneyland for lunch and a very chill afternoon. Only did 1 ride (teacups) lol. But just took everything in and watched shows and stuff.

Sunday morning my alarm was set for 4:00am. Headed down at 4:30. Again found my friend. She’s faster than me but we were in the same corral. I assumed she’d take off and leave me in the dust but I guess she likes to chat when she runs and so she stuck with me for almost the entire race. Even though we said we weren’t gonna stop for pics during the half there were a couple we couldn’t pass up lol. I can’t explain how much fun it is to run inside the parks. Its amazing. I love it. The time goes by so fast. AND you get to use real bathrooms!!! After we were out of the parks we both needed to stop at the first aid station. I had some chafing on my arms from the jersey I was wearing. And her toe nail had cut into her other toe and it was bleeding. So we got that taken care of and then proceeded on the streets of Anaheim. She kept me going doing 2:1 intervals. Around mile 8 or 9 she needed the aid tent again so she stopped and I kept going. We assumed she’d catch back up with me but she never did. She did hook up with some of our other friends though and they were about 5 minutes behind me. It was harder not having her with me but I put in my headphones and tried to get into the music. At points I stopped paying attention to intervals and just ran cause running hurt less than walking at that point. At mile 11 I called mom and told her that I’d be crossing the finish line is 30min. So at the very end when I was in the chute for the finish line I was trying to spot them in the crowd. The spectators were lined up along the “fence line” or whatever you call it and they were 5-10 people deep. But some Disney magic came my way and I saw Brynn dart over to this one area where you weren’t allowed to stand and so it was clear. She had gone up to a worker to ask her a question. So I stopped along the fence there and yelled to her. The worker saw me and got Brynns attention so Brynn was able to run right up to the fence where I was and I gave her a quick kiss and then ran a few more yards to the finish line. I sure did high 5 Mickey on my way across.

Post race was super organized. The exact opposite of Nike. Tons of room to walk after the initial end of the race. Then you got your medal from the 10 or so people who were handing them out so there were no lines. Then you could get a space blanket if you wanted. And then you could grab water and/or powerade. Then you could go take your pic with the Tinkerbell half marathon banner behind you. I chose not to and just walked up and got my box of food instead. They had a family waiting area set up like many races do but I hurt so I just texted mom and Brynn to meet me at the hotel rom. Seriously 5 - 10minutes after crossing the finish line I was back in my room stretching out. It was awesome.

My finish time was 3:24:01. So not my best but not my worst. Ok so it IS my second worst time. Its 15 minutes slower than I was last year but I’m fine with it all things considered. And I had a blast which is whats important. So being as I was a late finisher I can say that I was very happy that every water station had both water and powerade still. The Cliff station still had gels when I went through. They never ran out of anything which is how it should be!

And more props for Disney here. The employees are awesome. I know they saw thousands of women in the parks wearing their medals over the course of the weekend. But they still make a point to congratulate me and ask me how it went. Some talked to me for like 5 minutes about it! And you know DD LOVED the attention she got from them when she had her medal on! It was quite cute! Our very last ride Sunday night was Little Mermaid. I wasn’t even wearing my medal at that point, just the race shirt. Its 8 or so at night so the medals/shirts have been in the parks for hours now. Its not new to anyone at this point. But still I get on my shell and the guy checks that my bar is down and locked and then he takes an extra second to say “Congratulations on your marathon by the way. You are awesome.” I mean what a way to end the trip. It wasn’t fake or forced. It was sincere. It was Disney through and through.

Mom, DD and I all had a great time. For this years race I was in a better place mentally but a worse place physically. And it all worked out great. I got to see my friends I made at last years Tink which was the icing on the cake for me. I'm so sad I dont think I can do next years Tink. But thats ok. I'll always remember this years!

Hey, I didn't realize this was you when we were standing in line at Pixie Hollow! Thank You! Thank you for all your tips to making my next Disney race more successful.

Hugs! I will be thinking of you and praying that you are back running soon. Good luck with your surgery.

Oh my !!!!! Hi :wave2: It was really nice speaking with you in line for Tink. Boy we spent the day gathering autographs. Hope your flight back was smooth. Now you've got to sign up for the DL 1/2 then you and your coach could come back out to CA. With the way I'm feeling now...I'm looking forward to next wks surgery.

We'll back from Disney Land. It was my first Disney race of the west coast. It was different from what I am used to at Disney world and I'm not really sure how I liked it. Don't get me wrong I had fun.

It was my 9th half and coast 1 for the coast to coast. This pass weekend was my mom first 10k and I couldn't be more proud of her. The highlight for the rest of my family who did the half was being in the start corrals and spending that time with Drew Carey. Nothing like staring a run with talking about Garmin watches with a celebrity.

I really liked the red haters and of course the rest of the course entertainment. Our time was about 15 minutes off our normal time due to pictures( we never try to pr at Disney it's all about the pictures).

That's all I got for now when I get time I will post a full report on my blog.

This was my first Disneyland race, I ran the 5k and 10k. I have to say this will be my last disneyland race. I think Disneyworld does it better. I could not believe how cold it was both mornings. It was not worth the money I spent.
I found the lack of characters on he 5k disappointing.
The expo was insane. I went Thursday as soon as it opened and it was crazy. The booth for the new balance shoes was the stupidest set up. I got new balance shoes in disneyworld only had to wait in line. At this expo you had to make an appointment and come back another day. I would of not bothered getting there early if I knew that. The line to see official merchandise was insane so I did no even bother.
I really did not feel the magical disney experience. I am going to save my money and just do Disneyworld for my next race.

Yea I heard the expo was crazy the first day. But I think it usually is on opening day. We went on Friday afternoon and didn't have waits for anything. Though I'm sure some of the official merchandise was gone by then. I only wanted pins and a wine glass so I did fine.

The set up for the New Balance shoes is new this year. Its also how they did it for Goofy at WDW the week prior. There were some announcements put out about it by RunDisney so it wasn't a suprise really.

I also ran all three races and had a great time! Wonderful staff. Wonderful team mates. Wonderful fellow runners. Wonderful experience.

5K - I decided to head to the front of the start as I planned on running the entire way. I did slow down to take in the moments plus I had two more runs ahead of me. Great atmosphere with the announcers, fireworks, and Tinker Bell flying across the castle, right?

10K - I was assigned Coral A and the announcers were still funny albeit not dressed up. I have to admit I don't remember much about the run! LOL! I ran my training pace, hoping to save some gas for the half-marathon. I actually liked running through parts of Anaheim - as a visitor, I tend to stick to the parks minus the shuttle rides to/from airport or other parks like Universal.

Half-Marathon - I slept in a little but was still able to get near the front of Coral F. As mentioned in a different post, I was surprised that I went out running without much difficulty. I was concerned that I would end up standing around or just walking but that was not the case at all. I slowed way down my usual pace, which gave me a chance to chat briefly with other runners, high-five fellow team mates and crowd, etc. I was so impressed with my fellow runners especially those who didn't appear to run on a regular basis. They were out there determined to finish - that was truly inspirational. Men and women and all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, etc. CONGRATS!

So would I do it again? You bet! I only have one disappointing thing, which I hope will get dealt with soon because I want to download my certificate! They fixed my net time but my placings for the half are still incorrect. For example, I should be in 300s for men, not 1000s. I've emailed runDisney and TrackShack a few times so hopefully they will fix that soon. But won't that impact other runners' placings? I know the bigger picture is that I completed the run but I (like many others) would like an accurate account to show off to friends and family :)

CONGRATS to everyone again!
