Hello everyone & thank you for your well wishes and prayers, it was needed for Timon!

Our daughter was born this morning after 10hrs of pre-labour induction treatment, plus 19.5hrs of hard labour, and was finished off with 24minutes spent in final delivery with a birth time of 0754hrs this morning, a very cold and snowy Calgary morning (total of 30hrs spent trying to get Kira into the world).

Timon (Cass my wife) was touch and go for most of it due to her Lupus which caused very low blood platelet counts (from 20k to 26k, normal is 100k) and a very slow dilation for most of the labour. A C-Section was imminent at midnight until she dilated 2cm from 10pm to midnight to be at 6cm at that time, which postponed what could have been a very risky surgery.

Both mom and daughter are doing well at Calgary’s Foothills Hospital and are expected to be home by the 27th.

She's beautiful and what a pretty name you've given her! Don't worry about your wife. I'm sure after some rest, she'll be fine. My labors were induced and long, too (26 hours for the first and 18 hours for the second), but they were worth it!
