We're getting married in January and are going to do the mail away license thing from Brevard county. Since the license is only good for 60 days, I don't want to start too early but at the same time I don't want to start at the 60 day mark either.

How far in advance did other brides start the process?

How long did it take from the initial mailing/faxing of the "REQUEST FOR MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION" to receive the "APPLICATION TO MARRY" forms?

Is starting October 12th (90 days in advance) too early or too late to start?

Thanks in advance!

Sarah

Too early for Brevard County.

We got married the first week of February, and when I sent in the request during the first week of December they told me it was too early. Then I told them that I didn't want the holidays to interfere with the paperwork processing, so they sent me the Application to Marry form. It took less than a week to receive it in California.

I'd say it was maybe 2 weeks between sending back our notarized form and receiving the license. They're really quick, and you can call and talk to them if you have any questions or concerns. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I guess I can't start the process as early as I'd like (I just hate waiting until November to start it).

Thanks again!

You should be fine if you start right at 60 days out. I got everything done and ready to go a few weeks ago for my wedding next month. I started it at my 60 day mark.

That's reassuring!!! I guess I really do need to wait until early November.

Thanks!

Sarah - definitely wait because even if you do send it early, they won't process it until your 60 mark. They will just hold it. So instead of risking them losing it while waiting for your time, just send it to them at 60 days and they will process it right away.

We did the Brevard County one too, and we got it really quick (in RI). I don't think you have to worry about not getting it in time if you wait until the 60 day mark.

Yeah just send it out 60 days before and you will be fine :)

Thanks everyone for your advice! I am definitely reassured about the timeline of the marriage license thing.
