For the very first time, I got to speak with a Disney Wedding Consultant! YAY! I'll elaborate in my PJ when I have all the updates ready.

I have to answer some questions for her and I need your help. I need to give her choices on locations and times.

I originally wanted an Epcot Ceremony, but I'm not a morning person, so I would really like the Beach. Well, DF really wanted our Honeymoon to be a 3 night Disney Cruise. Well the Wonder is on DryDock almost the whole month of Sept (go figure...) So our wedding will be the first week of Sept/last week of August which means HEAT. But how hot is it? I checked the average is 82. Is this incorrect? I'm from philly and we have HUMIDITY which can make heat even worse. So Consultant suggest early Ceremony (which I might as well do Epcot) or 5pm or 730pm now the earlier times are 230 and she said it will be quite hot. However, I wanted a dessert party and if the Ceremony is at 5pm - 6pm and then Reception I'm assuming at 7pm. How the heck could I do a dessert party? I'm assuming I can't, right?

Any suggestions on this? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

82 is probably about right as an average temp. It's definitely the humidity that is killer. I would avoid the 2:30 slot like the plague. That's approximately the time that the daily thunderstorm occurs in the summer.

As far as actual timing for receptions and stuff I'm useless but I just I'd share my weather input after living in Florida for the past 4 years. Summer is rough.

That's what I've heard too the most thunderstorms happen at that time. I chose September as its the cheapest time for our guests. But I wanted the end of Sept. But the curise screwed that up, bless I have a MOH who's a teacher and a bridesmaid going to school This works out best for them as well.

We were there the week after that this year and it was near 100 every single day - it was HOT and HUMID every day all day. So, while 82 might be the average, it could be way hotter. There is no way you could have done an outdoor ceremony in the middle of the day the week we were there.

That said, there is a solution to your dilemma. If you do a 5pm cermony, why not do an Illuminations reception instead of a separate reception and dessert party? That was our original plan last year when we were doing a custom wedding. Ours was going to be at French Island Upper and Lower from 7 to 11pm - so we were going to be the only people in the park after Illuminations that night!! There are a few specific things to think about for this type of reception, but some apply if you do a DP anyway.

1 - you have to use private transportation
2 - you have to pay the viewing fee $13ppn now I think
3 - you can't have a DJ until after the park is cleared out
4 - you have to have a buffet meal

I think that's it. It could be a great way to go, so talk to your planner about available spaces. I think Italy would be wonderful too.

Mermaidbride1108,

Having lived in both Philly and Orlando I'd have to say that the summer there for me wasn't any different then the summer here heat and humidity wise. The good part was that more things in FL are air conditioned. So I'd say plan on expecting similar weather as what you would have up here in August - though they do get more of the afternoon shower thing in FL. That said I would go for the evening ceremony with nighttime reception and I agree wholeheartedly with the previous poster that a reception/dessert party combination may be the best bet for you. So you could have Illuminations during your cocktail hour, dinner or dessert portion depending on if you do a 5pm or 7:30 pm ceremony. Double check with your WP obviously but I think that would work out well and keep you from baking in the heat with your dress on. HTH

I really like disprincessatheart's solution! I think that sounds great! Personally I could not be out in that heat/humidity with a big dress on and my nerves all over the place!LOL

On another note, I want to know how the heck did you get to speak to someone with your wedding so far away? I called and they didn't even want to take my info and then when I finally got them to they told me not to expect a call back till 1 year out!:confused3

We had a 10 am ceremony on August 1st. It was vvery warm, but do able.

My wedding is going to be August 31 but my ceremony is at 7:30 pm and I chose all indoor locations (WP & ADH). No dessert party. I live in Orlando so I'm used to it but most of my guests are coming from Boston. Oh well. It is definitely HOT!!! Go for the late hour and do your dessert party as a rehearsal get together the night before... that could work, maybe?

our wedding is in sept 10, 2008 would it be better to have an evening ceremony and then do a late night dinner? or is having an outdoor ceremony at 9am and then a indoor reception fine?

Hi!

Just wanted to add my .02. I may be biased because of where I had my wedding... but to me if you're going to have a Disney wedding, to have it in the park is the only way to go. It's so great for your guests to be able to see the park when it's empty. I'm not a morning person either, but it was totally worth it! If you have your heart set on a dessert party, you could do it the night before - or there are Epcot brides who have them much later after their wedding - Carrie (lurkyloo) is one of them.

GL with your decision!

Thanks for the advice guys.

My concern with doing an early Ceremony and then a lunch reception and a dessert party at the end of the day is that there would be a big gap between the dessert party and the recepetion. And Philly wedding guest are already complaining that ceremonys and reception are too far away.

My co-worker is having her ceremony at 2pm and then her reception isn't til 6pm and people are really complaining to her (even though the church is in far NE Philly and the reception is at Center City. Plus I was hoping to save on transportation costs this way doing the dessert party right after a reception.

Urgh! At least I have plenty of time to this about this!:rotfl: So I guess it's deciding if I really want the Outside Ceremony or the Dessert Party the same day

I would just like to add something, I was in WDW in Sept 2005, and we were very lucky that a Hurricane didnt hit the week we were there, but one hit the week before we went and one the week after we left. I was there is August 2006 and we didnt have any problems. But September is still part of hurricane season, and you need to know that.

While working there in the summer of 2006 the rains were like clockwork, everyday at about 3pm for about 20mins. So I would say go for the 5pm time slot. It will be cooler than earlier in the day, and no really chance of being rained on, unless it is a rainy day.
