I just noticed for the first time ever that on the TSS website there are more available BWV contracts (5 available) than OKW contracts (3 available). Very unusual.

Makes me wonder if this is part of the natural ebb and flow or if this is the start of a fundamental shift showing greater demand for OKW due to it's aparently lower purchase price and lower dues than the other WDW resorts.

We're looking for another resale and I miss the days when I had 20 or 30 OKW contracts to choose from.

go look at other resalers.

OKW is so much bigger than the other DVC resorts - so I can't see the resale market drying up. there will be deaths, divorce, and financial problems in the future, too.

now once SSR is completely build - with that many new members - maybe OKW popularity will increase enough....

I was tempted to try to buy one of the Beach Club resale contracts, but decided that I don't want to take that risk right now
(The risk of dipping into my savings, when the economy is such that I really could loose my job).

Also, I don't like to buy without having seen (physically) what I am buying.

I noticed a lack of VWL re-sale contracts.

VWL contracts have been few and far between lately. I keep track of the resale sights, and noticed that there have been less and less of OKW as well. Interesting!

Eileen, we just recently purchased a resale for VWL that was actually offered by a resale broker through an e-Bay auction. We recently passed ROFR (WHEW!!) and are closing 9/10 - woo hoo!

If you or anyone else on the boards is looking for a VWL contract, there is one available at a Web site called My Resort Network. We had our name on a notification list and received an e-mail just yesterday that a lady is selling a 350 pt. contract, all 2004 points available. Because we're no longer looking, thought I'd pass this on since there does seem to be a lack of listings for VWL: http://www.myresortnetwork.com/Resort/default.asp?ResortID=2177, then click on the For Sale link on the left side of the page.

Could it be the new themed pool with slide and lower dues, larger rooms, and the fact that it is the true Disney Vacation Club resort have something to do with it?

Laura <------ who is missing Richyams!

Maybe it has something to do with all the commercial renters stocking up on OKW points/contracts. Since OKW has some of the best rooms , lowest points, and cheapest resale contracts, perhaps they are viewed as better " investments".

Hmmm, makes you think if it could be.

The location of SSR could also be "validating" the location of OKW, which is perceived by some to be more distant from the parks.

We tried and tried to buy a 150 point Old Key West several weeks ago, but it was impossible. We gave our names to several brokers (Timeshare Store, Jaki, etc. and on the few that called us back with pionts that they'd just listed and hadn't hit the website yet, other people got them before we even made an offer.)The packages were selling before they were even listed on the website.

I'm not sure why everyone else was buying, but our reasons were because of the lower maintenance fees.

We ended up giving up and buying SSR directly from Disney. I don't regret it.

It is more likely ebb and flow and the fact that many like me are not willing to tie up more money in escrow waiting for contracts that seem destined to be ROFRed. I am waiting to see where this settles out before offering to buy another contract that Disney will take. As for renting points, it would seem to me you would get more bang for your buck at the smaller resorts where there is less availability than the larger ones like OKW and SSR. As I have often had to rent points to take my family with me to BWV, I know that most of the time I try for BWV points so I can get ahead of the 7 month window. I wouldn't need to do this at OKW or SSR as they are so large.

in July the pool was frequently near capacity with poolhoppers from OKW ,maybe a cheap option?

And, there are 4 SSR contracts listed....that is the most I have ever seen for SSR...I find that really interesting as well. It always makes me wonder why people would buy and sell so quickly.

I also have to echo the VWL shortage. We have been looking for VWL points for many months, and have been on Disney's waitlist for over two months (a 100 pt. add on), but nothing!!! In the big picture, it does not surprise me...it is the smallest. It's funny, though...people seem to think they are plentiful (even DVC), but not from my perspective.

Beca, sorry to hear that you are still waitlisted for a VWL add-on. Certainly doesn't make sense that our VWL contract passed ROFR when it was for the same use year that you need. Seems to confirm that there doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason (at least anything that's obvious) when it comes to what does or does not pass ROFR. I hope something comes for you VERY soon -- keep us posted!

Thanks....and, please don't feel sorry for us...our add-on will come in God's time...maybe there is a reason it is taking so long!!!

And, I am SOOOOO glad you got through ROFR...I would've felt really bad if you had not, and then we would've received points!! It'll happen...I just think it's funny that people say VWL is not hard to get.
