Looking for recommendations for properties that trade into Interval International.

My parents have 8 weeks banked and my Dad's health is making it hard for them to use it (they have 8 weeks a year so it piles up fast). They own highly desirable units so they get very good trade priority (I don't really understand it, but that is what my Mom told me).

Two kids, 15 and 12.
We do not golf.
We love nice/fun pools.

We are looking for 1st or 2nd week of Aug.
Hot hot hot, but it is when we can go.

Look for Cpress Pointe Resort. It is
just outside Downtown disney
and trades with II.

Not quite as nice but still
good & in the same area
are Cypress Pointe Grande
Villas & Blue Tree.

I would consider any of the Marriott Vacation Clubs:

Marriott's Cypress Harbour
Marriott's Grande Vista
Marriott's Lakeshore Reserve at Grande Lakes (if it's open yet - it's new)
Marriott's Imperial Palms
Marriott's Royal Palms
Marriott's Sabal Palms
Marriott's Harbour Lakes

We also like Sheraton Vistana Villages really well.

All of the Palm Marriotts have access to the Marriott World Center hotel which has a large swimming pool with slide and indoor pool, too. The new Marriott at Lakeshore Reserve at Grande Lakes sits next to the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott so you'll have access to those, too:

I just did a search on II (Interval International) for your timeframe with one of my good traders. The only availability I see for the new Marriott Lakeshore Reserve at Grand Lakes are 1 bedrooms until the 12th of August and then I see a 2 bedroom that sleeps 8. I had to use the resort code in my search to see it, though (MGK). A general Orlando search would not bring up availability for this new Marriott for some reason. :confused3

Marriott Imperial Palms (which is a 3 bedroom) has availability on the 7th of August. All the other resorts I mentioned in my previous post have 2 bedrooms available for the first two weeks of August on various check-in dates of Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Good luck on picking a resort. :)

Mystic Dunes is also nice. And Interval gets some units from Sheraton Vistana.

It sounds like you might be helping your parents use their weeks, so you may want to go over to www.tug2.net and learn more about timeshares in general.

I can sympathize with them. We own 10 weeks since my latest purchase and I only get 5 weeks of vacation time. I rent out a few of my extra weeks, but I really need to sell a couple. Problem is that prices are crazy low now because of the economy.

I recommend renting out any weeks your parents or yourself cannot use.

Visit the TUG site (Timeshare Users Groups) for information and to review their classified ads for similiar units.

If you're an Ebay'er you might also auction the weeks. You have to pay the Ebay fee but are more secure in payment.

The extra money may be used for paying their annual dues or transportation for the weeks they can use.

Liki Tiki resort has a 2 regular pools plus a small waterpark on the property with waterslides. They have 1,2 and 3 BR units and trade thru II. The units have flat screen TV's and in room washers and dryers that cut down on packing and bag fees. They offer bike paths/rentals, paddle boats, fishing, tennis, basketball, an arcade, mini golf, gas grills...it's a great time, all on 192 about 10 minutes from the gates of WDW. I've owned there since 1990 and go at least once a year.

We stayed at Liki Tiki at New Years because we had an expiring week we needed to use and this was all we could get. It was definitely not the nicest resort we've stayed in down there. I think you can do better in August.

There's also Hilton Grand Vacations Club's three resorts - Sea World, International Drive, and Parc Soleil. I haven't stayed at the Parc one yet, but I do like both the Sea World and I-Drive properties. Sea World strikes me as being better for families with kids, however, HGVC's tend to be pretty nice. I've always enjoyed staying there.
