My wife and I are looking at the Star Island Resort & Club timeshare presentation. Wife and I plus 2 daughters 8 and 10 yrs.
3 nights plus 2 attraction tickets for $249.+tax.
Has anyone stayed at this resort?
Is this a decent deal for sitting though their presentation? My sister-in-law went there last year and said it was very little pressure and very nice place.

What are some of the timeshare deals out there and how much pressure was placed on you to buy in. Just wondering if their are better deals out there.

We went to a timeshare presentation 2 years ago at Myrtle Beach and it was well worth it, 2 hrs of our time and very little pressure and we got 8 tix to different attractions.

Thanks,
Frank and Diane

the best places don't have to offer alot

here is the marriott offer through an owners referral

I have gone to a number of presentations that offered gift certificates. Once I got a pocket battery operated TV.

I don't recommend choosing Disney tickets as your prize because you cannot upgrade them to take advantage of the lesser cost per day of multi-day tickets, as little as two dollars apiece for the sixth through tenth days.

I have not gotten tremendous pressure to buy but I still need to not get caught off guard and sign something.

As far as buying the timeshare (the week or the points) I suggest not buying it at the presentation but instead mulling it over for a few days to a few months and see if you can get it cheaper secondhand from a broker that specializes in reselling timeshares.

Not recommended are timeshares where you are personally liable for membership fees or taxes over and above forfeiting the week or points that you got tired of.

I know it's great to get a good deal on a room and tickets while away - we've done it twice, but then we looked into Disney Vacation Club - have you checked into it? You don't have to stay in the same place the same week every year, and there's hundreds of other options besides Disney vacations to use your points for. Enjoy your deal at the timeshare, but don't sign anything until you think it over and check into other wonderful options for your family.

are you planning on staying longer than 2 days at disney? do each of you get tickets? or just 2 of you for one attraction.
it probably would be better just to get a cheaper rate at a time share for longer days & buy park tickets extra. next week we are doing silver lake & have that for 6 nights 2 bedroom for $249. we have tickets previously. I have seen 3 nites on ebay for only $59 at silver lake OR star Island.
check out tripadvisor.com,,,,,,, there are reviews people put up & some may mention the presentation.
remember you have to LOSE your one morning you could be spending at the parks at a time share......:crazy2: . really check out vrbo.com for some great pricing, $59 & up a nite at some nice looking resort condos!
that said....... about 8 years ago we did attend a time share presentation 'only' for discounted park tix at star Island, its a nice place, but we never did stay there. after turning down the time share 'offer' we thought it over & then went back the next night & took an alternative offer of a time share in miami for trade for weeks we wanted in orlando. we eventually sold it since just their maintenance fees added up to over $500 a year & we had changed our vacation plans to focus on cruises & a few days at disney, the time share just wasn't worth it anymore.
If I was only going with hubby (without family) for a few days we would DO the timeshare thing.. we have been to disney enough that a few hours won't interupt our vacation time. (with family,,,,,, we'd rent a house)
