At the end of next month it will be sign up for my flex account. I usually just sign up for medical. For the new flex year I was thinking of signing up also for the cancer Plan.
for 2 parents ( dh and I)
I dont work a full 12 months so amount wont be x12 months

Basic Plan around $40 a month for the year $400
reinburses
pays $60 for pap smear lab test required(don't all paps do labs)
pays $150 for mammos
so I'll get paid $210

pays $60 if dh gets prostate blood test(PSA) but he got his first prostate exam this year and wasnt given the psa test(he's will be 41) and not how often prostate exams are done

Enhanched Plan around $50....for the year $500
pays $75 for pap smear lab test required(don't all paps do labs)
pays $150 for mammos
so I'll get paid $225

plus it pays for other exams but the above I know will be done for sure. These plans also pay for things if youdo end up geeting cancer like

Basic pays $300 per day for chemo maxium 4 days per month etc

Enhanched pays $400

These plan are through American fidelty. I was wondering if anyone else has these plans or any advice. 2 ex co workers told me about a plan ( not sure if its the same one) thats pays for annuals, paps, mammos and if you get cancer you get $10, 000.

Theres another plan that pays $10, 000 and thats a cancer only for around
$11.00 a month year $110 for 2 parent

Last year my mammo came back abnormal and I had more pictures taken and an ultra sound. Then they did a breast biopsy. Luckily it was negative and just calcification. I have markers so they can keep an eye on it.

My aunt on my Moms side past away from breast cancer but theres no other cancer that I know of on dad or moms side. My moth did pass of lung cancer but she was a smoker. Having an abnormal mammo scared me and got me thinking of this plan. Dh is pretty healthy his grandmothers(moms side) sibling all past away of some type of cancer . His Dads side his grandmother passed away from breast cancer or uterine cancer.

I already have my work taking out
$240 per month for medical reinbursement
$40 for disability
---------
$280 total

another $40-$50 will be a lot so If I do the plan I would reduce my medical reinbursement

I have never heard of any such thing. Wouldn't these same things be covered with either your health insurance or you health FSA?

I get that it would give you money if you get cancer, but it sounds like another scam to get people to pay a sort of insurance to yet another company. Obviously they wouldn't do this is they were losing money so they expect to collect more than they pay out. This means on average you are going to lose out. Unless I knew I was really high risk I wouldn't bother. If you don't have health insurance than I guess this would be like buying a really cheap and really specific plan and I may consider it then, but I would rather get a health insurance plan if it's an option.

*I* would never do a one disease policy unless it was like $10 a year. I believe your health insurance is required to cover the PAP now and many also cover mammograms. Also, as an American, you're more likely to get heart disease than cancer any way.

Aren't paps and mammograms considered preventitive care and at no cost under most medical plans?
I too have never heard if a plan like this.

Sarah

I think what the OP is talking about is AFLAC. That's the only one that I know of that offers this (pays for you to take certain tests). You have to make sure about possible exclusions (risks, etc.) before signing up (assuming this is through your employer)

We have the same plan at my work.

You get PAID for the Pap and Mammogram...as in money in your pocket. That money does not go to pay for the pap, it is incentive for you to go and get it done.

I know someone who had the plan and ended up with cancer. It helped a ton, especially when her sick days ran out. If you are high risk for Cancer, like she was, I would go for it.

Yes this is the type of plan but it will also pay you for treatments you need if u do end up getting cancer, it pays you for testing you have to do, for ex kinda like insurance so if u end up with cancer the $$ that goes into your pocket u can use for living expenses, bills etc

I have health insurance but this is an extra insurance .

There are also

Cancer only pays out 10,000 $14 month yr- $140

Heart attack/stroke 10,000 monthly 7.00
Year $70

Cancer/heart attack/stroke combined
Monthly 21.00. Yr 210.99

I have high blood pressure

An ex coworker told me about the insurance and during one of the test they found out they had cancer. Luckily they were covered

1) My favorite.
2) Disease and/or hospital indemnity plans.
3) For a SHORT WHILE sold them during college.
4) Made insane amounts of commission money.
5) Huge commissions to sales people - low payouts to policy holders.
6) Some people make their money back.
7) Most do not.
8) These are not "scams", but have the smallest of payback of any policy.

NOTE: I would have continued selling th policies, but I played football,
so no time. But, it was HUGE money for the time we were there. (The
company recruited several ball players, since it was easy for us to sell
to other students!)
