Know I won't get much sympathy or compassion but on our 4th trip since the June smoking policy & all they have all been off-site. I travel by myself with our two boys and uncomfortable leaving them in the room to go get a smoke. I miss OKW but must say I am very happy with Bonnet Creek. No flames or lectures needed, just wanted to unload.

Good bye! I'm sure someone will be happy to buy your points.

Everyone has a reason for owning or not owning DVC. While I can't say that I'd agree with the choice you are making, it is still your decision to make. I wish you and your boys all the best.

I feel for you. I am not a smoker myself, but most of my family are smokers who up until the change loved sitting on the patio and smoking. I have wondered how this will affect our vacations.

I feel for you, I can't imagine being in your shoes. It's not like you can just leave your kids in the room, but then you don't want to have to drag them out everytime you want to have a smoke.

C ya. I'm sure TTS will do a great job handling things.

Sorry the no smoking policy has made DVC a bad option for you. But glad that you were able to find an alternative option that better fits your needs.

I'm sure you'll have no problem selling your points and hope you have a lot of years of great vacations with your boys. :)

No flames from me - I enjoy my few cigarettes a year whenever I am outside North America! ;)

I'm sorry that you have had to make alternate plans as a result of the policy, and I can see where it would be a challenge for a single adult.

Best thoughts to you and your children to find something that will work best for you - it sounds like Bonnet Creek may be an option!

I appreciate the fact that you are respecting the rules and not "cheating" like some smokers will. I think the blacony o smoking rule was a little heavy handed as well. I don't like smoky rooms, but I have never had problems with smokers who do it outside. You need to be able to vacation the way you like. Good luck!

Ditto! Thanks for being a great "owner" and neighbor. Best of luck and many magical vacations for you and your family.

I feel for those who bought DVC when smoking was permissible and now find themselves without good options. It sounds as though you have found a wonderful alternative. May you have many happy vacations at your new home.

Hope all works out for you. Heres to many more years of Magical vacations for you and your sons!

I didn't realize smoking wasn't allowed on patios / balconies because when we were at SSR in October, our two-balconies-down neighbor was smoking on the balcony (we had to go in because of the way the wind was blowing at that point) but I just thought it was still allowed. Hhhmmm... didn't know. I knew the no-smoking-in-the-rooms had gone into effect.

Make sure you check the other resort smoking policies. I know that some of the larger chains have banned smoking in thier resorts and its probably only a matter of time before they all do.

Here in Maryland, starting January smoking is banned from all restaraunts and bars. This new ban even includes public and private facilities, including VFW halls and golf clubs.

I hope Bonnet Creek treats you well....and you don't miss any
"magic"....

I also think the no smoking on the balconies is ridiculous.....they could
have kept a building or 2 for that....
I think banning it completely....will just lead to more people smoking
where they shouldn't.

So you can't smoke even out on the patio? is this a change? I know DCG has cracked down quite a bit too. I'm taking my kids and families next May and my sons both smoke. I have read them the riot act about sneaking a smoke and having me get nailed with cleaning fees. I was a back and forth smoker, so I certainly understand. (quit for 14 years, back for 4, quit again) I'm sorry you have to go this route.

Smoking policy discussions are not allowed on the DVC Boards, as it is a WDW-wide policy, not a DVC specific policy. This thread is now closed.
