Time to pay the stupid tax!

My DSIL thought she'd found an ingenious place to hide niece and nephew's Christmas gifts. She put them in garbage bags, my DB put them out!

Not sure which one felt more stupid, we still laugh about that one.:rotfl2:

Friend's wife left keys in car ignition. When she realized it she'd it she had husband run out to get them. He came back and said the good news is the keys are in the car . The bad news the car isn't there. :rolleyes1

We have two:

1. A $1000 mostly bar tab on a cruise we took. It was expensive scotch and ooooh, look, fruity drinks, sure!!! :rotfl2: We still laugh at that one; had SUCH a great time, we just howled when we got the bill. He thought I was being responsible, I thought he was being responsible... The thing is, we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

2. We live in an apartment with a community front lawn. I thought I was being all fancy and had a YARD SALE! I only got $60, though, I pulled my car around to the front of the yard (a red no-parking zone) to load up my unsold stuff and locked my keys in the trunk with the top down. I don't have a trunk latch so I called AAA and with my top-tier, it was going to cost me $60 for the locksmith to come out and make a new key. *

*luckily my husband found the spare just in time.

My daughter got her license this past year and we bought her a nice 2007 Ford Fusion. She usually parked at the top of the driveway and Dh at the bottom. One night we came home out of order and we left her car at the very bottom of the driveway where Dh would surely see it! Dh gets up late the next morning, hurrying out to work, backs down the hill into the car!! Ugh!!! $1,353 to fix the bumper and hood!! :(

Last night I went to leave the house and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition. Then the wheel locked up. I was imagining a very expensive bill and having to get the car towed. My Dh tried, too, and it didn't work. I needed to be somewhere, so I grabbed the keys for the other car. That car wouldn't unlock with the clicker. I was ready to have a meltdown when I looked at the keys. Um, wrong car. I was trying to open Dh's car with my keys and yup, you guessed it, start my car with dh's keys. No wonder they wouldn't turn in the ignition!!!!!! Glad we figured that out before we called to get the van towed!!!! So just got out of paying the stupid tax on that one, but I doubt Dh will let me forget it anytime soon!!!

You are lucky to get the keys out. My husband put his truck keys into my vans ignition and we couldn't get the keys out. Ended up having to have the car towed and luckily our insurance company covered it as an accident and covered the cost to replace my ignition.

After DH kicked in the back door when we locked ourselves out, we bought the keypad deadbolts from Lowes. Now, we have not had house keys in over 6 years and could not be happier. We have one code that only we know and another in case of emergency that we can give someone to get in.

They are about $100 and I can't imagine having to carry a house key again.

This...we are able to get to a spare key "if and when" the battery goes. And, yes, that does happen. We've been keyless since my DD was a baby, and she is now 19. It makes life "so much easier".

Several years ago right after we bought our house I stepped outside for a couple of seconds to light the grill and managed to lock myself out. Not only that but I managed to lock my 2 year old in. Looking out the window, she smiled a menacing smile at me and then disappeared around the corner no doubt on a mission to destroy. No time to call a locksmith, I picked up a large rock and broke the window. I can't remember the cost of the window now but I do remember going out that night to buy replacement doorknobs that you had to manually lock with a key.

My husband does this all the time. Guess we have too many Honda keys. He always figures it out right away after so many times.

He and I have cars that are identical except for the color. If we don't park in our usual slots (me on the right, him on the left) it confuses me when I go to work in the dark. I seriously thought something was wrong with my car one morning because the key wouldn't work. Finally realized he had parked in my "spot" and I was in the wrong car.

We put a new lock on the front door because the old one was worn out. The old one wouldn't open from the inside unless you unlocked it. The new one will. The old one was locked when the "bar" on the inside was vertical. The new one, when it is horizontal.

I got locked out not once, but twice in the first week after we installed it. The first time, we were dog sitting. I got up for work at 4 AM and took one of the dogs out. I was bare-foot and in my pjs. No phone, of course. I knocked for 10 minutes or so without rousing anyone. Then I started blowing my car horn right below DS19's bedroom window. After about 20 minutes, he finally woke up and let me in. (We don't have any neighbors close enough to be disturbed by the horn, for those that are concerned.)

I still hate that new lock.
