Time to get through LAX

We will be arriving in LAX at 6.30am in about a month! Just wondering from those who have gone recently, approx how long does it take to get off the plane, get bags, get through customs and get out to the front of the airport??
Just trying to estimate what time we might get to DL by.

We went in June this year and took us about 30 minutes, landing about the same time as you will be. We were in premium economy, being towards the front of the plane helped. Also when we got off the plane we hustled (we had a connecting flight to make).

However our flight was early, and another flight arrived just after us. They were holding those people in a 'holding area' and not letting them down to immigration. Guess they didn't want 2 plane loads of people down there so early in the morning when there weren't so many staff on.

I think we get to Disneyland about 8:30 ish when we go. I can't tell you exactly though. I need to write stuff like that down.

Last time we flew(March) it took us about 90minutes and that was premium economy too, another flight from Asia somewhere landed and I believe a couple of other flights from OZ arrive at similar time, you may be lucky if you are first plane landed. The problem is minimal staff at that time and I have read on aust Ff forum about lengthy delays recently due to further staff reductions.
You would think the government would know they are restricting our Disney time

Thanks everyone! Will hope we are the first plane in! I was thinking 60 - 90 mins to get out of airport, at DL by 8.30am as a best case scenario, (if 60 mins at airport & 60 mins travel to DL) so sounds like I am in the right ballpark at least.

Will be prepared for it to be a bit longer, and pleasantly surprised if it is quicker!

it also depends on how you're getting to Anaheim, we arrived the same time as you, very quick through customs etc,(we had kids so there's a special line for families) caught greyline bus to Anaheim,unfortunely we were nearly the last stop so we got to the Hyatt about 9.00am.

Hi Kiwigirls. We arrived into LAX a little earlier than the airport opening time in March this year. We had a connecting flight (3 hours after our arrival time) to New York and barely made it to our flight on time. We actually had to run in the terminal with no shoes on ( we didn't have time to put them back on after going through security). The whole way through immigration we keep saying we had a flight to catch and they kept telling us we would be fine but when it got to dropping off our bags for the new flight the baggage handlers had to go above and beyond to actually get our bags on the flight. Hopefully ours was an isolated slow process but you just never know unfortunately.

We flew in yesterday and it was just awful. Took us 1hr and 50 minutes to get off the plane and then out the front. Customs was so so slow. We would have been there longer had we not been put in the crew line after over an hour.

We then missed the disneyland express but by less than 5 minutes so that was supposed to be another hour but ended up being an hour and 20 minutes as they were running late

Oh Crackajac, that sux. What time did you end up getting to your hotel?

Our flight to lax on the 13 sep was the first plane to arrive. We had to wait 10 mins on the plane before they opened the doors. 6.30 am is apparently when customs start. Because there was no one else, they let us go through the express pass queue as well. By the time we got our bags, we were out the door in 35 mins.

Jacs1234 we got to our hotel at about 4pm.

It was quite funny. First our flight was supposed to leave Sydney at 1pm got delayed until 2pm then got delayed again until 3pm. So instead of getting to lax at 930 we arrived at almost 12pm. Which I though ok that'll be ok but then delays thru customs and then missing the bus. Hahaha

Oh that's disappointing crackajac Did you go into the parks that day?

Jacs1234 no we didn't make it kids who are 3,6 & 8 were exhausted. We checked in freshened up and went to goofys kitchen for dinner. That way they got to experience disney without wasting a day on just being there for a couple of hours. Despite it not being what we planned they got to Bed quite early and we didn't have to make them stay awake all day.

We were checked into our LAX hotel 2 hours after landing. All very quick and smooth. That included about 45 mins of waiting for and catching the shuttle. Excellent time with a 2, 4 and 6 year old in tow. There was no special line for families when we were there either.

we got in at 10 - checked in at hotel and at disneyland by 1pm after all 4 of us had showered and changed.

in contrast to our return to Australia. took an hour and forty minutes to get out. felt sorry for the people lined up 150m behind us.
