Time to Get There

I saw the schedule change for Disneyland for March and the park opens at 9AM. Is it worth getting there as soon as the park opens? Or should you get there at 7AM or 8AM or how is the best way to do it?

The parks usually let you in 30 minutes early to shop on Main St./Buena Vista St. Get there then so you have time to get through the gates and into the park. At rope drop you are ready for fun when the parks are least crowded. We have often seen characters then as well but don't count on it.

No need to arrive 2 hrs early.

We look at the schedule for the parks opening time.

If the park opens at 9am, we'll try to be at the gates about 8am-8:15am.

The gates may open 30 minutes before the park is to open. Then you can go down Main St to the beginning of the Rope Drop line up.

You say you saw the schedule change for March - what did it change from/to?

We will be there the 1st full week of March and the hours were always 10AM opening Mon-Thurs and after that all I ever saw was a 9AM opening time for the same days as the hours came up for the later weeks in March.

Just curious more than anything as I did not think they amended their hours once posted 6 weeks out.

As to when to get there - keep in mind you have to clear security before getting to the gates, so that can add time as that line can get pretty long. If you want to be at rope drop then I'd suggest showing up at 8 for security, that would likely be when it opens for a 9AM park opening, unless there is EMH/MM in which case it would be open an hour earlier. They normally begin letting people in at 8:30 to walk down main street up to the ropes.

It is absolutely worth getting there before opening(in our opinion). We shoot for 30 to 40 minutes(to be through bag check and at the turnstiles) before the opening time listed.

There are so many things you can get done/take advantage of(first thing), if you make the effort to be there towards the front of the lines!

Of course, if you want/are able to get there earlier, you certainly can! Have a wonderful time!:thumbsup2

Are you driving or staying nearby? What day of the week is it? Are you talking about DL or DCA? Will you have a plan of what to do if you arrive early? The answers to all of the above will influence when to arrive.
