Time to get in line for Candlelight Processional?

So they have 3 lines all day for the 3 shows? or do they not start the other two until later? We're trying to figure out if we want to see one of the shows while we're there.

They have one stand-by line. For the first show, they let in enough people to fill up the stand-by seats, which seems to be about 3 rows at the back on one side. Then the next people in line can decide if they want to wait to see the next show, or if they want to leave at that point. Same thing happens for the 6.45pm show, they let some people in, the rest wait. Depending on the narrator, some people in the stand-by line won't get in at all.

We have the dinner package so that means we're guaranteed to get in right? Just a matter of how good the seats will be? Please correct me if I'm wrong. We were planning on heading to the line 45 mins to 1 hour before show time.

Well, I wouldn't say guaranteed, because if you were to show up 5 minutes before the show started, I'm sure you'd be out of luck. However, 45 mins to an hour shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the explanation, the stand-by line sounds absolutely awful. Really sounds like the Dining Candlelight option is the only way to go if you don't want to waste half a day.

What's the Standing room like? Do they let you stand behind the last couple rows or do they make you stay further away?

There's no standing room in the theater itself (I don't know why, maybe fire code, maybe because the choirs file in and out while the actual show is going on) so you have to stand behind the theater. Depending on how many people there are, how tall you are, etc, sometimes you can see fairly well, other times not so much. You will still be able to hear the music and the narrator, I just think you miss out on some of the atmosphere.

I agree - we've always done the package and since it doesn't cost more than the meal would anyhow, it's totally worth it. Also the theater holds more than you think--we were quite a ways back in line when we went years ago, and we got good seats. We lined up about 45 minutes ahead with the package.

That said, this year I'm going solo and only for a couple of precious days, so there's no way I'm standing in line. I love the idea of watching outside; I don't even care much about seeing the narrator -- I just love the music. I will try to find the white bench! If anyone wants to join me, I plan on being there for the latest show on December 12 :earboy2:

We have done the CP many times, but this past trip, we decided to skip it "officially" and instead had dinner at Liberty Inn at the outside tables during the first show. While we couldn't hear the narration (Gary Sinise), nor could we really see much of anything, we could still hear the music loud and clear.

We went tonight, 8:15 Joe Morton (note the 5PM show was a special event so no CP dinner pkg or standby). My inlaws were with us and they got in line about 7:25, were by Japan and got seats in in the 2nd row of the 2nd section off to the left side. It was great for us because the bench was longer than row 1 so the kids could be on the end and not be looking over adults. DD5 was pretty much asleep at the end but still kept trying to clap (it was so cute!). We absolutely loved the show, as the in-laws and my Mom. Joe Morton was terrific and the music was magnificent. We walked back to Canada and grabbed a spot near the rail to watch Illuminations, we did head out towards the end but enjoyed the fireworks as we went. I'm not sure how much you would like it if the Bible story and Christian music doesn't appeal to you but we sure loved it!! Ended our vacation on the perfect note!
