How much time inbetween half marathons do you take off? The reason why I'm asking is that I want to do a half on 6/28, all downhill, then on 7/5 I want to do the Leadville heavy half, which is mostly uphill. Is a week long enough to recuperate?

Thanks.

Several factors come to mind. First, it really depends on how hard you run them. If you consider the first race as just a LSR, a training run, then you should be okay for the second.

Second, you need to make sure you have a good base to start with. If doing a half is a stretch, then I would suggest no. If you have a solid mileage base that allows you to run a half with no problems, then doing a back to back may not be a problem.

Always remember, only you can decide what will work best for you. We can only provide some general thoughts.

I'm a walker and I thought I would really take it slow for the first half because Leadville is a killer. We start at 10k feet above elevation and go to 13,185k feet above in a matter of 3ish miles.

Hey Monte,
I am running a half this Sunday. I ran my last LR last Saturday and it was 10 miles at a brisk pace. A couple of more miles and I would be doing 2 half marathons in 2 weeks. Very doable.

Although the downhill race might be even tougher.
enjoy,
Duane

If you do that, I'd use a full marathon training plan and make teh first race teh day when you'd run teh 14. Definitely don't go all out, though.

The first half is 13.1 miles and the Leadville is 15.1....I think I may go for it!:goodvibes

I think it may be doable. I did the WDW Half walking and when I came home I was on such a high I signed up and did the ING Miami Half 1week and 6 days later. Just thought I would do it for doing its sake, but then actually did my personal best.
I think you just have to listen to your body and do what you can.

Good Luck,
Tracy
