We have friends that are coming to Disney in September at the same time we are and they have decided to fly down and we are driving down. This is their first trip and we have always driven so I was hoping someone here could help me. Their flight (AirTran) lands at 9:30am and she wanted to know what time they would realistically get to French Quarter. They haven't decided whether or not they are going to rent a car or use Magic Express so any experiences doing both would be great. I was just hoping to give them an approximate time they could expect to arrive to start their day.

In our experience, if landing at 9:30 am, plane getting to the gate, getting off the plan, taking the tram to main terminal, collecting bags ( would just let the Magical Express do that bit however, that early in the day ) getting to the Magical Express Bus, maybe waiting a bit for the bus to fill up, 30 minute drive to Disney ( same as if driving a car rental ) maybe stopping at 1 or 2 other Resorts, equals at least 1 1/2 hours. Could be a bit longer but not by much.
They should be all checked in by 11:30, Key to the World Cards in hand and ready to hit the Parks. The room of course may not be ready that early but they can begin their Adventure

Thank you so much! I was thinking they would be ready to go around noon so I wasn't too off. We always drive through the night and arrive around 7:00-8:00am and are off and going at Park opening so I wasn't sure what to tell them so I really appreciate it.

The standard time to expect arrival at your resort via ME is 90 minutes after you deboard the plane.

We landed at 9:45-10:00, used DME and was at Boardwalk by 11:10. We stopped at POR first.
