Time frame for rental points?

DH and I are trying to decide about what to do for our next vacation. We are really interested in DVC and met with a rep. the last time we were there. So we were thinking about renting points this time to try it and see if we are ready to take the plunge!

Anyway we would like to travel in early December 2007 or January 2008. When should we begin to look for rental points if we do decide this is the way to go for this trip? And when is payment expected if we do rent points? TIA!

As both those time frames are popular with DVCers, I would start looking for points now. The December 2007 reservation can be made in January 2007, and January 2007 ressies can be made in February 2007 at an owners home resort. Payment dates and option will vary, depending upon the owner you rent from. It is a private transaction between the two of you. Disney/DVC will not become involved if things "go sour" nor will Disney/DVC member services speak with a non-owner to confirm reservations, make Magical Express arrangements, add the dining plan...nothing...it must all be arranged b the owner. Remember there is a great level of "trust" involved in a rental transaction. Good luck to you, and take your time to read a few thread about the advantages and pitfalls of renting before entering into an agreement.
