Time frame for booking member cash?

I have booked a few times through MS on cash and getting the member discount. Each time has been only about 3 - 4 months in advance.

I am interested in booking for next spring and am wondering if there are limits to when villas become available for me to book using cash. Also, are there any sort of cash waitlists or do cash cancellations just go back into inventory to be used by the next person who requests that particular date, etc.

I don't think there is a set limit. I got it a couple times at 7 months for OKW. It depends on how many cash rooms are available in general for the resort you want and dates. Sometimes cash rooms are available from CRO at a larger discount. There are no cash waitlists.

Sometimes villas are available for MC at 11 months out. We used to routinely book on MC at a non-home resort at 11 months out. We understood that at 7 months, we couldn't just "convert" to points, since MC rooms and points rooms come from different inventory. So if not available on points at 7 months, we'd waitlist. However, if it's a stay you really want, and you're want to go whether you pay MC or points, it's something to consider. However, in the long run, we finally found a resale so we didn't need MC for the 11 month window.

Tinkmom, why are you paying cash for a room, rather than renting points for the room? The cheapest price I have ever gotten a studio is $170. A studio is almost never 17 points, except on weekends, and at Christmas. I assume you are paying cash for the weekends, so that you can use your own points to extend your vacation, or get several vacations this year.
