I'm looking for the amount of time it will take to get to and from resorts and parks using DW transportation. I know I saw it out there somewhere but I can't remember where.

Disney prints to expect an hour. Any real life experiences?

Will be staying at the All Star Movie Resort.

We stayed at All Star Movies in May of 2002 and we could generally count on a half hour from room to park entrance. Sometimes we'd have a bus waiting for us and sometimes we'd have to wait for a second or third bus. Allow an hour if you need to be there for a priority seating. Have fun!

Also, the Unofficial Guide has a chart with transport times. We found the transportaion system to be good, with the exception of getting to other resorts.

I get to mention my favorite guide book again! The Unofficial Guide to WDW has a cool chart. It lists best and worst case times for WDW transportation and your own car for every WDW resort! They don't get their info from some Disney PR person, either. They do real life timed trials (and a ton of them, and in every season). This is a fantastic must have guide book, I wouldn't dream of going w/o it ::MinnieMo

This interactive site allows you to input your starting point and destination. It then offers combinations of travel options and time for travel:

I love it!

I am going to enter all my jaunts and have options for every park, resort, and dining destination in my binder!

Good luck!

the busses run about every 20-30mins and are usualy on time. we also stayed at the all star movies and didnt have any problem with busses

Thanks for the link to ourlaughingplace. It works great. It gives me different options for each move. I hope the times are accurate. Getting from Hotel to park is the easy part. I want to plan my travel times for priority seating, shows and etc. Thanks again for the great link.:earsboy:

The OLP times I checked are significantly different from those found in the Unofficial Guide.

For example, OLP's website lists the time needed to get from Fort Wilderness to the Animal Kingdom using Disney transportation as 26 minutes, including a 5-10 minute wait for transportation. The Unofficial Guide says it ranges from 23-56.

I'm not sure 26 minutes is a realistic average-case estimate. In the first place, if we assume the buses run every 20 minutes, your average wait time is 10 minutes. That leaves 16 minutes to load the bus, drive across most of WDW, and unload the bus. And that assumes you're at the first bus stop in Fort Wilderness, not one of the back loops waiting to get to the front. The last time I was in FW (December '03), it took me more than 45 minutes to get from the Beach Club to Pioneer Hall, and I drove my own car to FW.

Similarly, OLP says it takes 23 minutes (including the wait for transportation) to get from the Wilderness Lodge to MGM, while the Guide says 18-48 minutes.

As HaleyB notes (thanks!), we actually ride the bus transportation to get these times. Several of us have spent the better part of a week doing this, repeated every couple of years. Along around day three we invariably try to recall whether our medical plans cover carbon monoxide poisioning.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your trip, xraydave.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

Keep the info coming. I have a copy of the unofficial guide (I love it by the way) I just find it hard to plan when the times can be in a range of 26-56 minutes! I guess it would be better to plan for the longer time.

THANKS!!! ::MickeyMo

No problem, xraydave.

I forgot to mention one thing: the Unofficial Guide's upper estimates for transportation to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are probably too high when traveling from a resort. Disney used to funnel folks through the TTC during mid-day, but do no do so anymore. So the worst-case times to the water parks are probably a bit high. It'll be corrected in the '05 edition.

Let me know if this isn't clear. Thanks for the opportunity to discuss.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

At some parks each all star has their own bus, but some of them all all stars are at one stop.. So sometimes you could have a long line. Especailly the days with EE. There will be a huge line outside waiting. We usually sent my husband ahead and we were in the shop while he waited.. We planned on about an hour from the time we sttod in line to actually going into the park..

Although you could get a bus driver who has no idea how to put a wheel chair on and take about 30 minutes to load one person... It was awful.. Especailly since it was at 10 pm and we all wanted to go to the hotel. That day we waited about 1.5 hours for a bus..
