Seems like I sure come here to the DIS family a lot, especially lately, with requests. But, you all care so much and that is most appreciated.

Marie again is involved with tests. Late last year, she had her 'routine' follow-up mammogram, done twice yearly, following her breast cancer in '98. There were 'some things' they did not like in what they saw. So, a second mammo. That prompted an MRI (an 'open' one as Marie is claustrophobic), which was 'inconclusive'. Banter back and forth with surgeon and oncologist as to whether to do a biopsy then (mid Jan). Decision then was to wait a month, do another mammo, and see.

Well, mammogram done about a month ago, inconclusive again, do them again, in a few weeks. That was yesterday. Marie was there for about 3 hours, many shots. Radiologist wants an MRI, not an 'open', but rather a regular MRI (closed) to get conclusive results in order to pinpoint area/s to do biopsy.

So, at a minimum, Marie has to do a claustrophobic MRI in the coming days, probably within 2 weeks, and then a biopsy, hopefully showing she is fine. So that's it, another request for your good thoughts, and inclusion in prayers from those who pray. We have appreciated so much from so many in the past, and thank you again, family you all are.

Prayers and PD coming your way Dan.

Of course Dan. Marie will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything goes well for her.

All my best.

Sending along my prayers for Marie and you as well. I had to get an MRI done, which was very complicated, so to help me they gave me a mild sedative so I would not get too antsy in the machine. This was over 10 years ago, so I don't know if they still do that or not. As much as sedatives may not be what she wants, it might help her if it is an option.

Poor Marie, I sympathise. Will she be offered a tranquilliser to help her through the MRI?
Hoping all will be well.

Good thoughts on the way to you and Marie. Think positive!!

Oh my goodness. All the prayers and pixie dust coming to you and Marie. :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Absolutely, Dan. Marie will be included in my daily prayers, along with tons of good thoughts and well wishes, as will you. I understand completely how hard those enclosed MRI's are, having had one myself. Maybe Marie can have a little xanax or ativan prior to the MRI to help her relax. Please keep us updated, as we all anxiously await to hear good news.

Good thoughts and prayers to you and Marie, Dan.

BTW, my mom had to have a closed MRI this past Tues and she is very clausterphobic. She insisted they sedate her and they did. She got thru it fine, much better than being awake. Maybe Marie can request the same thing and make the process a bit easier.

Please keep us updated.

Saying many prayers for Marie, Dan. Sure hope everything will be OK.

I'll keep Marie in my prayers. Hugs to all of you.
When I had to have a closed MRI (head first) I just told the girl to give me a minute after she got me situated on the table. Then I calmed myself and thought of us out on the boat. I just imagined all that banging (that the MRI makes) was the boat hitting the waves, and I kept my eyes closed the whole time...even before I went in.
So if Marie can keep an image in her mind and just hang on to it the test will be over a lot sooner. I guess you could say mind over matter. Hope that helps

 Your family will be held in my thoughts and prayers.

Hope it is not too much of an ordeal for Marie and the outcome is positive. PD and good thoughts coming over to you and Marie.

Prayers and best wishes.

MIL had to be sedated for an MRI, so I know they will do it. So did my aunt for a PET SCAN - she is battling breast cancer now and is holding up well. I feel your pain and know your worries. Losts of good thoughts coming your and Marie's way.

Dan,

Amy and I both send our thoughts and prayers, not just to Marie, but to you, too, and wish you all the strength to help her get through it.

Pat
