Tim Tebow

I wouldn't either. Mistakes were made that the Patriots took advantge of. They weren't all mistakes made by Tebow.

Talk about heart on his sleeve, I will never forget "The Promise". :thumbsup2

I was at the game that made the promise necessary and we heard the press conference going home in the car. It really was the stuff legends are made of. If Tebow doesn't make a success of himself in the NFL, it won't be because he didn't work hard enough. It's almost a sad commentary that a kid who is willing to do whatever it takes to succeed is seen as a rarity or unusual.

Excellent point. There are some things that have come out of this whole Tebow thing that have made me cringe. From all the available evidence, he seems like a nice kid, but he's NOT divine. And as you said, if he really believes what he says he does, he'd agree with that. People need to take a step back, calm down, and put this poor kid back on earth. It's not fair to him to create all this around him. He's a flawed human being just like everyone else. Put away the #15 jersey with "Jesus" on the back, that's really insane.

and nobody earns their way into heaven...at least not in the Bible I read. Lots of people do good things and they don't even believe in heaven. They just do them. Put away the yardstick, stop measuring everyone up, and do the good deeds because they're good things to do.

:thumbsup2 Good deeds are just that, good deeds. No one is "good enough" or can do "good enough". Tim Tebow doesn't do these good things to die and go to Heaven, his salvation is already taken care of through his belief in Christ. I think that one a thread like this one, that has to be clarified. You can't separate Tim Tebow from who he is in Christ. He'll screw up just as we all do, but he will not lose his relationship to God through Christ because of that screw-up.

Emma, I just do not think you should ever judge who is the "better person", it isn't our place. Some things are quite obvious, because we see "the fruit", but God knows the heart of every person and we do not see everything. I do NOT think Tim Tebow wants anyone putting him on a pedestal (because he'll fall far & people will be disappointed) --I think he tries to be a good role model as a Christian and role model in general. Anything more and you ask for trouble.

Well said. I've always thought of good deeds as the fruit that comes from the tree of who a person is; good deeds are not credentials to get your ticket punched to whatever comes beyond this life.

:confused3 He posed for a picture (probably with fellow students)... shocking! :scared1:

Actually this pic helps me to like Tebow more than I had before because it shows that he is just like every other guy in his early to mid 20's.

This is purely a joke, I wonder if Tebow has ever practiced the art of "Tebowing" after winning Flip Cup or Beer Pong? Although he probably rules at Survivor Flip Cup but is awful at Beer Pong, so I bet he has "Tebowed" after Flip Cup haha :goodvibes

I thought the same thing, he's a 20 something kid who went to college in Florida. Pictures of him with bikini clad females are probably a dime a dozen. That doesn't take him down one single notch in my book.

Um, what is so busted? They are clothed. He isnt doing drugs. Heck, they probably begged him for the photo op

It is stuff like this that gets me to shake my head. Simply because he is a Christian, they feel they "caught" him at something.

let me give you a hint. If there was a tarp, buckets of Wesson Oil, you might have gotten something.

This just looks like a desperate attempt at "getting him" simply because of his faith.

How sad.

FYI, Im no Tebow fan

I just read the transcript from this weeks Elway presser....he says Tim is here to stay...guess we'll see!

Love, love, love Tim Tebow!! He is a perfect example for our youth today. Not enough "good hearted, religious" athletes out there today.

I wish the world would stop attacking him for being a Christian. :wizard:

In the business of professional sports, any press release is only the answer for the moment. Any player can be traded or released.

I don't think most folks are attacking him for being a Christian. There is a lot of misunderstanding about him, a goodly number of folks who would love to see him fall, and general confusion by others because they don't know much about Christian discipleship.

:lmao: I agree with the others. I have far worse of DH in his 20's!

In fact, yesterday we received a DVD of DH with his college buddies for his buddies 30 yr. reunion (DH's 30th is next year). I looked at the DVD and said,"We'll let DD watch this in 4 1/2 years." :rotfl: She starts college in the fall!
There was far worse pics of him in this DVD. So funny to see all those "good times." I'm not sure if there was a sober pic of him in all of the college pics.

Although I find this picture fine, normal and that he hasn't been busted for anything... I'm sure some people will find it scandalous:scared1: The poor guy has been placed so far up on a pedestal that Jesus has to strain his neck to look up to him.

On the "it gets better" thing-no NFL team has done one, although several baseball teams have. Reportedly the NFL is coming up with it's own program about character and the teams will all be a part of that.

So in the end it won't be a reflection on any NFL player if they don't end up on "it get's better".
