It looks like I am going to have to replace my kitchen floor again!
It was wood parquet on top of linoleum that was stuck down tight on top of a concrete slab (my basement is not under this part of the house). We had a few spots we needed to patch on the floor because we had some trouble with buckling and we thought we would be all set. Guess again, come to find out when the wood buckled it pulled the linoleum away. Now we can't patch the floor we will need to take the whole thing up and start over. Some of the linoleum will come up but some will not. It looks like my only alternative is tile. This is not just my kitchen but my dining room as well so the whole room is about 24 x 12 feet. I never wanted to have tile but it seem like I have no choice. Does anyone have any suggestions or is there anything I should know? Is tile in the kitchen a bad thing?

I'd just say have a professional install it. And the other thing is that I've found smooth tile much easier to keep clean as opposed to any with texture to them. In my previous townhouse I had a textured tile installed. It was horrible to clean and was very streaky. Here I put in a beautiful white tile with gray in it. Smooth! The store told me that it would look like an ice skating rink, and it does...just gorgeous! I'm still thrilled with it. It's going on 7 years now.
