I'm not sure if my American neighbours get this show but it is a fantastic resource for anyone looking at how to make changes in their budgeting or improve a marriage in a debt crisis. Simple solutions that anyone can do!
The host is Gail Vaz Oxlade and she's awesome! I saved $80 last month alone! You can catch it on www.slice.ca
She has another show called Princess about single women in debt and its really good as well.

I live in California and watch this show every saturday night. It is fascinating to me how unaware people are about their debt and even how much they make. The jars are a great idea!!!

For Lent my husband and I gave up shopping or buying little things for ourselves. We have saved an additional $1500 by doing this. I don't feel deprived and have actually felt a sense of freedom by not always obsessing or searching for something to buy. Interesting........

I like the show. I find it amazing how careless some of the people are with their money and their totally unrealistic expectations within their means.

i love the show and love that she is so blunt. It is amazing the amount that some of these people are spending every month on junk etc, and they seriously wonder why they are so much in debt lol> i would love if she traveleed all over canada to do the show.

I'm watching it right now on my DVR! :thumbsup2

I wonder if Gail would think it is wrong that we have a Disney jar nestled amongst our other jars???

I also love this show....Gail has changed my life! I have been working with the jars for 3 months now. At first, I was petrified.....How was I going to make it through without my bank cards or credit cards? Its amazing how easy it is actually. I watch her show than I watch the reruns. Now, I'm into Princess. It amazes me how oblivious people are to their situations and how irresponsible some people can be. I've written her and thanked her for my wake up call. Her books are great too - highly recommended!

I watch this show every Saturday and I've used Gail's budget tools from her website. She is so practical and logical. We have instituted many of her ideas at home too.

We love her show!

I was one of those people who spent so much money on NOTHING and had no idea where the money was going. It was ridiculous!

We started the jar method (we use envelopes though) about 6 months ago. No cc, no debit cards at all. Cash only.

We have saved so much money and have paid down my cc debt more than we did all last year.

Before when I went shopping I'd just whip out my debit card and buy what i wanted. Now I really think about the want vs. the need. I'd buy things just because they were a good deal. Now I just think to myself - it's not a good deal if don't need it!

Is there any place to watch it online in America? Youtube, Hulu, and MSNBC is giving me nothing.

its on before or after suze orman so i believe it is cnbc but it may be on msnbc or another channel in the nbc family.

i really do like this show as well. however these people are very unrealistic and for those of us that are already budget there are not many big money saving tips to pick up. my favorite couple was one that was going to clubs every saturday night and getting bottle service, spending thousands a month on this. when her challenge was to find something to do for free the couple was shocked that such a concept existed. the couple was seriously like you mean you can go for a stroll downtown or to a local park without paying?!:lmao:

I like this show, and I agree with y'all who say that some of the people just don't have a clue:

What? You mean that if I quit my job to stay home with my baby, I need to adjust my spending habits? Cooking at home costs less than eating out every night? Do tell! You're saying that my husband and I should discuss major purchases? What kind of crazy talk is this?

Seriously, though, it's surprising how many people just don't stop to think about their finances. It's not rocket science, but it does take thought.

No cable or satallite so I need a website that shows it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. Suze/Gail = one- two punch! Wish she would come to the States to straighten people out. She could start with my sister!

Love this show, as Gail tells it like it is - 'are you out of your mind?!'

I also enjoy the trainwreck factor for some and like that the episodes are different. Some seem like fairly normal people who you can see got sidetracked or like that husband who had the garage full of random tools and she had the closets full of little kid clothes and they both just bought their own feel-good things and they need a wake-up call and redirection.

Then some like those lunatics who made little money but kept buying like $15,000 carpets and importing silk curtains from Turkey and etc.

I get not getting quite how much you're spending but when they're exceeding their $2500/mo. income by $3500 extra a month and are confused and disbelieving when she shows them I don't understand how they didn't notice that. She goes back through over 6 months of finances!

The princesses are so nuts it's just amusing. I especially liked the singing hooker who couldn't hold a tune - Nicola I think it was. I heard there's a new run of Princesses in Canada at the moment but sadly it takes like a year to cycle down to us.

Dunno if she's on a website - are there DVDs?

We get it on CNBC.

We love both of her shows. Some of the stuff on her website we cannot view. I wish we could see the updates.

I have talked about Gail on the BB before and even earlier this morning.

able to find them at your local library, I still like her line when she said the best way she saved money was to get rid of her husband (her first husband)

I love this show as well. Gail is so great at getting through to people. When I was a single mom I was in debt. I was lucky enough to be able to move in with my parents so that my DD and I could get back on our feet. I was even luckier when I met my DH. He is great with money and has helped me in not going over board. Yes I still spend but sometimes I ask the question of "do I need it or do I just want it?"

When I tell him I got it on sale he always responds "just because it was on sale doesn't mean you saved" :rotfl:

Of course when it comes to Disney items I always tell him "it's Disney do I need a reason" :confused3

I'm not sure if it was this show, but I saw something a while back where a woman had rooms of clothes. Many were brand new. She had over $200K worth of clothes. She could have bought a HOUSE with what she'd spent on clothing. I was shocked. She had no idea what she was spending.
