steveanddonna,

Hey that is a great shot. Mind if I use it on the web pages?

Thanks Steve; happy to have you use it. I can e-mail a better version of it if you'd like - I purposely kept that one very low res for the sake of speed. I have a couple of the volcano pool other views from 1517 from different angles, one showing the CR and one showing GF. Let me know what res, color model and file type you prefer and I'll e-mail them all.

We stayed in Room #1508 in September and I was very dissappointed.

We had that room last August. When I first walked in I wasn't so sure about the shrubs. We ended up loving our room and enjoyed having the shrubs for some privacy in our room since we always had the drapes open. We spent many nights on our patio. Most of the time we had the patio door open and the kids would go to the beach. It was like having an extra room. I was really happy we were close to the beach end of the Hawaii longhouse.
Maybe the shrubs got a bit taller by the time you got there?

Donna,

You can send the photos to my email steves5150@yahoo.com

I would love to see them and use a few or if you have them in an album you can send me the link and I will tell you which ones I would like to use.

Mirlow,

When in August were you there? We were there the beginning of August. I always watch the ducks hiding out in those bushes. I never remember them being very large because I have to look over them to look toward sunset point and the Contemporary and I never remember not being able to see over them when sitting down. They do trim things a few times a year. Maybe they did get big for a while.

Here is a photo of 1508 (bottom right) from last August.

We were there August 6th-12th. We liked our room so much that we added a day on and took one away from our AKL concierge stay. My kids loved the ducks. I swear we had ten on our patio at one time. They would have come right into our room :) When we would go to and from the beach we would have to walk around the shrubs. Not really a big deal. I can see how it would be a disappointment if you are expecting a clear view. I was just really happy because one other time we decided to stay in a LVC room instead of our usual GVC room and we were assigned a room on the second floor. We didn't want the second floor so we switched to a GVC and saved some money.

Mirlow, we had 1508 a couple of years ago and loved it as well.

We could see the castle but loved that feeling of privacy. :sunny:

I didn't mean to start a debate about Room #1508 or imply that it soured our entire trip. We had a wonderful time and we loved our time at the Polynesian. To clarify, the shrubs were way overdue for pruning. It even bothered DH who is a landscaper to see the usually well manicured grounds overgrown in spots. Maybe it was because of all the hurricane damage that time was needed in clean up rather than maintenance.

I just had such high expectations (maybe too high). Sometimes when you know that you will never be able to do something again you want that time to be perfect. It's hard to live up to perfect. I do wish we were able to go back as often as some of you. I feel so relaxed when we stay at the Polynesian (even with 3 kids in the room!).

That is a good point Lisa. I am sure the plants love the weather there and grow fast and with the hurricane I bet the gardeners were working hard on repairing the plants and trees damaged.

Aloha
