We are taking my mother-in-law for her birthday to Poly Dec 12-18. We have a "stardard" or "garden" view, which room can I request to get a possible glimse of the castle or at least water without it costing "water view"? Also should we mention the bday? Is there a chance will we get pixied with an upgrade?

Thanks read everything you wrote but I've gotten confused with all your info :rotfl2:

PS: We'll have our green ears on our door and mybe I'll wear them so we can meed other DISers for drinks! :drinking1

The only rooms that I am aware of that have a lagoon view at Garden prices are a few in Tokelau and some of the North side of aotearoa. Tikiman's site can give you more detailed info on the rooms.

You can mention the birthday, but be aware that thousands of guests everyday celebrate a special occassion and they can't give everyone something for the occassion.

There are some lovely garden view rooms that do not have a view of the castle that you might want to consider, but requests are never a guarantee.

I was in a third floor garden view room in Tokelau in September and I could glimpse the castle through the trees, as well as a sliver of the lagoon. It was a great location. The Poly is gorgeous; your MIL will love her birthday trip!

We had a garden room there on the third floor last Thankgiving. If you looked at the right angle you could see the castle and the lagoon. It was also quiet. We loved it! Have fun! The Poly is the ONLY resort we stay at. If feels like coming home each time we do.
