Tiki Room

Thank you Val. :) And I agree about not changing a feather on the chiny chin chin of those beautiful and magical birds.

Pink Budgie,

Do visit the birds, the next time you have an opportunity to do so. I love them. :)
The Enchanted Tiki Room normally is in operation 7 days a week. :)

Gisele,

If you get a chance, take the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. We saw the Tiki Room with our guide, and after the show, he brought out one of the very first orchids. Her name is Ophelia. He held her with a soft cloth, and we weren't allowed to touch her, but we got to see her up close.

This was my favorite attraction growing up, and even when I was a teen.

Mary Jo,

Thank you for the information. I have been entertaining the idea of one day possibly, to take part in the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour.
Ophelia, sounds to be very beautiful and delicate. I wonder how the very old flowers and other items are stored? Acid free paper is the best choice, wrapped carefully then placed into an acid free box. When being handled, it is best to handle while wearing acid free gloves. This is how it is done be it at a museum or when a private individual is handling, and storing any artifact that would fit into the category of textile, or other important goods. When handling vintage or very old, and valuable paper goods, it is like wise important to wear acid free gloves, when handling and then to utilize acid free liners to store the documents into. Then placing it into an appropriately sized box, is an excellent idea too.
One might be surprised as to what mistakes that some antique dealers for example can make, with vintage textiles, or other goods. I have seen the above as well as even curators of small and not so small museums or historical societies, not do any of the above. And/or, vintage garments will be hung, (Oh my!) from a regular hanger. This is so not highly recommended. Because over time the garment will lose it's shape, perhaps even ripping at the shoulders as well, because of the gravitational pull that is being exerted upon the fragile garment. Even if the textile is as sturdy as a brick, it does not matter, this is not the correct way to display, much less store!

I will. I love parrots anyway. Can't get enough parrots! Last summer we only had three days and no one wanted to go. This time it is just DH and I for a week so we will be going. :goodvibes

Good, Pink Budgie! :) Sounds like a very nice and pleasant plan.

Have a wonderful, fun and exciting 20th Anniversary!

Man, I cannot even get the fiance, to begin with! ha ha!

They did not change it. There was quite an uproar when it was proposed / rumored to be changed. Many emails and complaints were sent. I visit it every week . Never get tired of it. I have a room in my house dedicated to it. I know , I need help. Whatever. Got to go , it's "time to wake-up the glee club"
Aloha!!!!!

Can't disagree more. Under new management is horrible. Walt would turn over in his grave to see what WDW has done. In fact I have heard that they are planning on changing it back to the original for their next big anniversary. I think they are planning on changing the facades of Fantasyland as well. It needs it!

Yup, I'm with you. My mom and I did not like the WDW Tiki Room. The DL one is classic.

Alas, when I visited DL Tokyo, the TR was being renovated or was otherwise closed.

As an aside, my mom is visitng Paris now and plans to stop by DL Paris for a day. That'll make three Disney parks in less than a year: WDW, DL and DL Paris. I myself have been to Tokyo DL, DL (twice) and WDW within the last year.

Rob

Does anyone know if you can buy the music from the Tiki Room show and where?

Thanks!!!

I know for sure it's on the Happiest Homecoming on Earth 2 DISC set. I purchased this at World of Disney, I believe about 3 years ago or so.

We LOVE IT on a warm day when we go in, sit in the cool air and have a snack.....the fun show is just a bonus!!
