Tiggerdad's chasing squirrels at the Fort! Nov. 14-23

Well, it's been a bad morning. There was a miscommunication with myself and Kenny about the cart return date. I thought it was in the morning, but apparently he thought it was today. The really horrible thing about it was that I missed my one chance to meet the one and only, RustySkupper.

Hey Scupper, I'm sorry about the missed opportunity. I was really looking forward to finally getting to meet you and then be able to claim that I had survived a Skupper encounter like Ed. Now it looks like I'm gonna have to wait until next year.

Dang! Dang! Dang!

Oh yeah, it's raining off and on today, this place is crawling with new campers, and the squirrels got into my container of peanuts while I was out looping this morning. Didn't even leave me a Thank You card.

(I just can't believe I missed a chance to meet The Scupper...)

I hate the golf cart mix-up happened to you. If the squirrel mafia thinks you left the nuts there for them on purpose, maybe they'll hog-tie Mr. Scupper and drag him over there for you to meet. :)

Glad to see you and the family are having a good time! Did the comfort stations and back gate use magic bands or a card to get in?

Nope, had to use the card at both locations. Doesn't make any sense to me...

Sorry about the Scupper non-sighting.

And I'm sure the squirrels are taking that as either a sign of surrender or defeat. Normally I'd say they may actually leave you alone now that they have won, but these are squirrels. I'd brace for round 2 when they try to make off with everything else you own.

As I was cooking dinner this evening, I was coming out of my camper and a nice lady and her son were admiring my decorations. She said her family was pulling out tonight instead of in the morning because of the weather and I told her I was considering doing the same. When her husband comes around the bend pulling the camper and asks if I'm Tiggerdad. Turns out it was Westbeachbum and he was staying just around from me the whole time and I didn't know it!

Glad I got to shake your hand and safe travels to you and your family. We pull out early in the morning. Got storms coming our way. Fixing to turn in the modem...as pitifully slow as it is, so I won't be able to post anymore until we get home.

So this is goodbye on the boards until I can get to the house. I have lots of pics, but this service is horrible and my Disboards app on my phone is crashing endlessly since Tuesday.

Talk to you guys tomorrow!

Ohhhh....the bittersweetness of the bitter end, but a great time was had, and your likely back next year for more!! Glad you had a successful visit and enough good times to be ready for more before long! Safe travels through the weather!

Tiggerdad, Hope you have a safe journey home :drive: Great job on the TR and can't wait for the other pics. I think the squirrels knew you where getting ready to leave and just wanted to lighten up your load a little.

It was great to meet and shake your hand as well, Tiggerdad! My son fussed while we exited the park because wanted to spend more time looking at your decorations! He admired them all week! We made it to Jellystone Park on I-10 so we won't be far from you tomorrow. Safe travels to you and your family. Glad to hear you all had a nice trip!

I have enjoyed reading along, yall have a safe trip home, especially with all this weather moving through,

1) No problem.
2) Things happen.
3) I wish I had time to stick around until you got back from Kenny.
4) At least I got to see your site and decorations.
5) Next year . . . . . . . .

Thanks for the pics and all the squirrel antics. Great TR. And have a safe trip home.

Thanks for the info on the MB at comfort stations. Enjoyed your TR and here's to safe travels home.:cool1::moped:We leave Thursday for the fort so hoping the snow stays away until after that. :thumbsup2

Great trip report Tiggerdad. Thanks for the work.

Rain up here in middle Alabama is misty but not bad so hopefully you won't run into much hard weather on the way home. Supposed to last for several hours though.

Have a safe drive. :moped:

The only good thing I can think of about getting home today is the faster internet. After that, it all just depresses me. You guys know what I mean, after driving 12 hours you get to unload everything. You get to unload the unused water, empty the fridge, get all the snacks out of the counter...(Wait a minute, wasn't there a box of Honey Buns in here? DANG SQUIRRELS!). Got to unmake the beds, dry out the fridge, sweep, mop, slop the chickens, feed the hogs...

Thankfully we have learned over the years the things we can just leave in the camper until next time...like the kids!

We had a rainy trip home. Light rain all the way to Tallahassee, then storms off and on until Mobile, that was where the sun popped back out about the time we got on Hwy 45 headed north. No events to report, didn't see any accidents either, which is always a good thing.

Appreciate all the well wishes and thanks on the report, but it isn't done yet. I just gotta get the pics together and I'll give you guys some more to look at. I'm still on vacation until Thanksgiving Day, so I got some time to work on it.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. You guys remember in my first set of pics I posted one of the Trading Post, and asked "Didn't there used to be a wagon here?".

I got no responses, but I pulled up some old pics, and sure enough, there it was. Well, yesterday morning I went hiking back behind the Trading Post on the trail that leads to the old cabin, bathouse, and 300 loop, and look what I saw behind the Trading Post...

I mean come on, first the Lawnmower Tree, then the rocking chairs, and now this!? Hope this is for a refurb...

Anyway, I'll get you guys some more pics up here soon. And here are some daytime Christmas tree pics...

SQUIRREL!

Glad yall made it home safely. I had to check out a picture of your truck and camper again. I pretty sure that I passed you on I65 in Mobile today.

Glad to hear that you had a safe trip home. We pulled in to home base this morning, clean and green all the way 1,043 miles. Hope to see you on the rebound. Our best to you and your family thru the holidays.

Same to you. Really enjoyed getting to talk to you. You seem like the kind of guy to give good "judgement".

As of right now we are looking at a similar time frame for next year. We are going to see how hard of a time the oldest has after missing a week of school. If it seems too bad, we may have to change back to early or late summer.

Either way, there will be less park days and more exploring.

P.S. The next day there was a 4 man tent on your old site. They were in there quick. Can you imagine trying to sleep being that close to the road, sidewalk, and with the buses?

Obviously it is their first time at the fort,or no available sites left. Either way, Going to be a lot of sleepless nights. Do you know if they sell ear plugs at the trading post ?

This the offending vehicle and trailer?

Yup it sure was, I had the same paint job on the F-250 I use to have, that is what caught eye today. I had to take a second look. We had just left Sam's Club and was heading south towards I10. I believe I might have saw a Fort squirrel riding on the back bumper of your camper! We Know hwy 45 well, we go up to Chatom and take hwy 17 up to Butler to the deer camp. Thanks for posting some real good pics of the fort, we have been trying to talk my parents in to making the trip. They have never been to Disney. They just got a new fifthwheel and by the way they were eyeing your pics I think we got them talked into going. Let us know if yall book for the same time next year, we might try and go, if yall dont mind the company, my wife has never seen Disney decorated for Christmas. Glad yall made it home with no problems.
