OK, so my last visit to DLR was a Tigger Tail disappointment, the new non-trans-fat version = no more orange flavor! I couldn't taste any orange. Which to me was the defining factor of a Tigger Tail. We bought 2, and we didn't even finish the 1st one.

So I come home, and one day I visit DH at work. One of the guys had brought in Treat ice cream, which is a local San Jose, CA ice cream maker (the BEST ice cream, by the way).

One of the flavors was "Tiger Tail". Let me tell you, Tigger Tail fans, this is heaven in a bowl :cloud9: I can't buy any for my house, I'll eat the whole thing! :rotfl:

Whoa...so does it actually taste like the Tigger Tails of bygone?

This is interesting, from an intellectual property standpoint. I wonder if Disney has caught wind of this. I suspect not. Although, upon second glance, I see they've named it "Tiger's Tail" and not "Tigger's Tail" so that is probably a very smart decision, on their part.

Tiger Tail ice cream has been around at least since I was in elementary school (starting in 1980); I remember the school lunches had it for a dessert on Halloween every year. So I'm sure they didn't copy Disney...and even if they did, maybe it could be a message that the non-orange-flavored Tigger Tails are a flop! (At least, I don't care for them, and about 9 out of 10 reviews I read, people either liked them the old way, or don't get what all the excitement's about if they've only ever tried the new ones...)

Yum!
Is it orange and chocolate flavour?
Here in Canada, I've seen Tiger Tail ice cream many times, but it's usually orange and black licorice flavour...ick!

Orange and...licorice?!? UGH!

The U.S. version is orange & chocolate...sooooo yummy....

We were also VERY dissappointed in our recent tigger tail purchase. They do NOT taste the same, and are really just disgustingly sweet. I bought 6 of them to take back home for our daycare children- 3 of whom had been to DL in the last year and LOVED the old tigger tails- they could not finnish these, said they were icky. Sad when 4 yr olds don't like them.

I had no idea this ice cream existed until a week ago! It's a new one to me :) I'm wondering if this is where Disney got their *original* tigger tail inspiration :)

Yes, it's described as orange ice cream with a fudge ripple - it's delicious :cloud9: As gross as orange and licorice sounds to *me*, I get why they would do that - my dad loves those all-sorts candies (british thing) and they have various fruit flavors with black licorice. Grossssss  :rotfl:

Exactly, I was seriously bummed out. The CM even warned me as I was buying them: "They changed the recipe, they're not the same!!" but I had to try for myself. :sad2:
