Tiffins - Snooty Staff? Having second thought.....

We went in park attire and paid out of pocket for our meal. It was very good and I would go there again, but we had VERY snooty wait staff. In fact, when we were presented with the souvenir print the server actually said, "Do you even know who that is?" It was the running joke for the rest of our trip.

I would keep my reservations and hope you get one of the good ones!

Who was it on the print? (We haven't been to Tiffins yet!)

Do they give out "prints" at dinner only? I have lunch reservation. I thought I saw one of the print on yelp.

The prints are scenes, I believe all the ones we have are animals (though we are missing 1 so not sure they are all animals)
They are drawn by Joe Rohde the creative mind behind Animal Kingdom (you'd know him by his earring)
We got our last one in Nomads Lounge, not even in Tiffin's.

So was the snooty question about who DID the print rather than what's on it?

I'm curious to find out the answer to that too. Maybe they've changed the prints recently to be a who vs. a what.

ETA - This is typical of the prints we've gotten

I'm wondering if I just don't know what some people consider snooty. I don't need a waiter to tell me their life story but on our first Tiffins trip we had two young gentleman (one in lounge one in restaurant) who clearly were passionate about their jobs. The gentleman in the lounge was very knowledgeable about all the options even the top shelf spirits and made a great suggestion on an alcohol substitute for my Jenn's Tattoo. Yes it was to a higher shelf alcohol but I know they don't work on commission so felt the suggestion was not force and I do think it added to the drink. Our waiter was fantastic and just lovely. We thought we may have seen him before so asked him if he had been working in the parks for awhile. He said no he actually came from a steak house in Boston and was hired for Tiffins due to that experience. Lovely guy who was so passionate about the food that we did discuss each course. None of the experiences were longer than they should have been so we were allowed to eat with out interruption.

The second time we had another young gentleman. This one we got to know a little more and he was just what I expect out of a server for a restaurant in the "signature" category. We discussed our mutual love of Britney Spears and some other very random things and he was very knowledgeable about the food. The only thing he did that I guess could have ruffled some people's feathers is when I ordered the taste of Tiffins he clarified that you only get what is written and nothing else. He did say that was because he got many complaints that the tamale is just the tamale with no side of pork and I said no worries I only wanted the tamale so it worked for me. We both chuckled at that and we went back to polite conversations. While we were there I did see another table dissecting every single thing the server did. Down to complaining about a hair that was on the floor and telling the server they should do something about how filthy the restaurant was! I can imagine if you deal with that all day you become less personable and more just get them in and out which can come off as snooty. For the record the restaurant was in no way shape or form filthy and I imagine the rogue hair was from the person who had occupied that table prior since it was only 1 and on the floor.

Some guests are more high maintenance than others, that's for sure. I too often wonder how CM can ever be pleasant overhearing some of the crap they have to deal with.

I think people who are less outgoing can come across as snooty especially if someone is a situation where they are not 100% comfortable in the first place... ie someone who feels like they are not "fancy restaurant" people but might want to try out some at WDW might feel a bit out of place. Mix that with a less friendly waiter and they might feel looked down upon when in reality it just might be that they are having an off day, a bad day and are just not as friendly as they could be... nothing personal and no one is being looked down upon. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and as long as the service is efficient and polite I don't really expect the world out of someone doing one of the hardest jobs day in and day out... but I do appreciate it when i get someone who enhances my experience at a place!

It's good to know that they're alright with park attire. I was thinking about eventually stopping in for the Taste of Tiffins lunch or at the lounge for a drink at some point but was reluctant since I am always wearing park attire & would not want to dress for a signature restaurant while touring parks all day. It seems more reasonable to enforce casual or formal attire at a signature at a resort, not in the parks. Are they alright with tank tops as well as t-shirts?

Women can always wear tank/sleeveless, even outside a park.
But in a park, yes, they are alright with anything. If it's alright to wear to a park it's alright to wear to eat
Can you imagine how few guests they'd have if they put a strict dress code on an in park restaurant (not just Tiffin's)? Just how many guests are going to go eat in a park and not spend time in the park too? I mean, who would get a park ticket to just eat?

Our server was not snooty. Maybe a little too descriptive, but you could see she was enthusiastic. I would give it a try!
P.s., we went for lunch in park attire. No issues.

We had a fantastic experience at Tiffin's. The host was super friendly and our waitress was outstanding. She was very attentive, personable, and knowledgeable about the menu. I was with a group of 7 and we all loved the food.

Tiffins is the only place I've been to where I've felt judged for being solo and only doing apps/drink. The waitress I had was not that attentive, or pleasant. But I saw here put it on for the table of 4 near me that ordered two bottles of wine. Now the waiter that was taking care of the mother and son beside me, he showed some outstanding service and confidence in the food. The mother told him that her son would be eating at a quick service afterwards, the waiter responded that he has yet to have a kid not enjoy any of the kids meal options and said it would be on him if he didn't like it. The kid ate the whole thing.

On the days we ate at Tiffins and Brown Derby I made sure I was wearing a regular t-shirt, not a tank top or vest, that seemed like the least we could do to try and keep to the dress code. I don't think the signature dress code is much more restrictive than that anyway. No swimwear, cut/torn clothing or tank tops are the main points. I think that is pretty easy to meet even when in a theme park. Basically cargo shorts and a t-shirt is better than torn denim shorts and a vest.

But I know at the resort signature places many people like to dress a little smarter and I wore a collared shirt to make it more of a special evening.

Had a great experience at Tiffins a few weeks ago. Server was very friendly and helpful. No one in the restaurant was dressed up. Food was excellent. The place was immaculate and the decor was classy. (I've heard some people say it was decorated "on the cheap" and that comment truly shocks me... sorry, just because there isn't a grand ballroom or a bunch of oversized animatronics or a drive-in movie theater in the restaurant does not make it "cheap")
