Tickets?

OK, I know this is a stupid question, so please bear with me. Is the World of Harry Potter a separate park that needs a separate ticket, or is the regular Universal/IOA ticket all you need? I don't want to buy the wrong one!

Harry Potter is part of Islands of Adventure. A 1-day 1 park ticket to IOA is the minimum you need.

Now for another stupid question - do the tickets work the same way as Disney? Good forever at the current gate price if you don't use them?

I'm thinking of buying the ticket now but may not use it until next year.

Also, can tickets be upgraded, like to an annual pass?

As long as you don't activate the tickets, they will not expire and yes...you can upgrade to an AP.
