Tickets through Undercover Tourist vs. waiting for package discounts?

Looking at RO rates and ticket prices for our stay next January, it's obvious we can save some money by buying the tickets through Undercover Tourist.

I read somewhere that ticket prices will be going up around June, and was advised to buy them before the price increase -- does anyone know if that's accurate information?

Secondly, what's your experience of overall cost savings on buying from UT vs. waiting to see if package discounts come out in the fall? We weren't planning to use DDP, so if it's likely that RO discounts become available I'd be happy enough with that, but should I wait on the ticket purchases in case they only offer package discounts?

Finally, with a package, do tickets have to be length-of-stay, and do they have to be the same number of days for all travelers? My husband will likely be attending a work conference at WDW during a few of the days of our trip, so I won't want to buy him tickets for those days.

Usually a package discount is only on the room portion and you can take advantage of that discount without getting a package. With a package, tickets don't have to be length of stay, but they do have to be the same for every person on the reservation. What you can do then is buy both tickets for the length your husband would need, then when you get there you can upgrade yours for the additional days when your husband would be at the conference.

They already raised ticket prices once this year, so who knows if they'll do it again when they usually do or not.

We haven't done a package in 5 years, because whenever I price out both options, the room-only discounts end up being better for us (we've qualified for Armed Forces Salute discounts every year since then, which are slightly better than what's available to the general public).

It's unlikely that they'll offer a package discount that drastically outweighs what you can get for a room-only, but there's no way to really predict it.

Packages do have a requirement of booking the same tickets for everyone attached to the room, but you can simply book the minimum length you need for both of you (not length of stay) then upgrade your ticket as needed in the parks. The Dining Plan is length of stay.
