Tickets question

OK. Planning to take my granddaughter to Disneyland/CA in August 2022. Went ahead and made reservations at Disneyland Hotel for Aug 1 to Aug 4th. Haven't bought tickets or anything else yet, as there is still a question as to its a sure thing or not right now, but wanted to lock in hotel, since its cancancelable if needed. They did give option to buy the 3 day park hoppers I planned to get when I made the reservation though, which confused me as you can't make park reservations for August yet. Also I keep seeing ads for "discount" Disneyland tickets.
So here's my questions: Are the discount tickets legit? Is there a discount buying through hotel res or disney direct? If discount tickets are legitimate, what are the cons/pros of using them.
I may end up canceling Disneyland Hotel and going offsite, but this is a special trip with her, so might keep the splurge, we will see.
We are going to arrive on 1st, do DL/CA ON 2, 3, 4th, Then move on evening of 4th to Hilton by Universal and do Universal on 5th, and go home to Texas on 6th. Whew!

Personally, any small discount is not worth the hassle of buying through a third party in the event that you can't make your trip. Buy the tickets directly through Disney for peace of mind that they will always be valid. Don't add them to your room, though, as that turns it into a package with FAR worse cancellation rules. Just hold off and buy the tickets once you can make reservations 90 days in advance. Buy them via the app so they will be automatically linked to your account. Since you have a room reservation, you will be able to access the hotel guest bucket and will not have any issues getting the days/parks you want.

I had the same question, so interested what others have to say about discounts. Also, if you buy through the app & reserve your dates, can you change your reservation without penalty? We plan to go the second week of March, but we're from Canada, so if there's still a travel advisory, we'll likely postpone for summer. Not sure how soon reservations fill up?

There are reputable sellers of discount tickets. You can save a little bit of money per ticket, and for me every dollar I can save in one arena can be spent on food/merch/G+/ILL/etc. They are not hard to use, I just bought tickets from one particular reseller and I was able to download the tickets instantly to my computer. I scanned them into my Disneyland app right off the screen - assigned names to the tickets, and then made theme park reservations. I have them printed out and will have them in my backpack, but I suspect having them in the app will get us going on our adventure.

I think I saved $25 off each ticket or so, but I went ahead and bought the tickets that have G+ already added since I already know we're going to want it. I look at it as getting G+ for around $12/day instead of $20/day.

As for canceling reservations, I believe you can change without penalty up to midnight the day before your reservation - the only caveat being that there is no guarantee that the dates you want will be available when you cancel your existing reservation.

I agree!

There is no penalty for cancelling reservations for regular ticket holders. It's very easy to cancel and reschedule them.

Just be aware that, sure, there are "reputable sellers", but they are still considered Third Party and if there is ANY issue with your ticket, Disney can say they can't help you. It happened to a lot of people who bought tickets from LMTC, a reseller who recently went out of business and left numerous people with tickets in limbo. And Disney can't help them. You never know what might happen and Disney doesn't take an active role in resolving issues that affect third party tickets. So, it's a buyer beware type situation.

I have always bought from 3rd party reputable dealers and have never had an issue. There is also one that gives refunds and I have had to do that as well without issue. I just bought 3 day parkhoppers for May and saved quite a bit by doing so.

I've never had a problem with 3rd party tickets. I always make sure to use a reputable company, who will immediately email the tickets (no pickup at the booth like LMTC was doing right before Rona). Several companies offer cheap insurance plans or just a small restocking fee for ticket returns now. That's better than what Disney will give you, they will just tell you they're non-refundable and to hang on for them for later.

Where did you go to get G+ already added? And how does it work out to $12/day?

OK, I know where to get tickets (5 day PH at $25 off per ticket), but on that website if you choose to add the G+ automatically for each day it will add about $110 per ticket for 5 days. If you just buy it each day after entering the park it would add up to $100. So, what's the deal with that? Why don't they just add G+ for the standard rate?

A question for anyone who has purchased G+ by the day. How much of a hassle is it in the morning as you are scanning into the park? It seems like if I want to add it for 5 of us I would be fumbling with the phone trying to add it to 5 tickets as I'm walking in, tripping, bumping into things, etc. How is it in reality? Can you add it to all the tickets in your party with just one purchase? Or would you need 5 transactions?
