My friend is planning a trip to Disney and trying to buy tickets on Ebay. I thought with the new finger scanning you couldn't use other people's old tickets. Does anyone have any info about tickets they have bought off of Ebay?

EBay tickets are BAD

How do you know what they've REALLY used off the tickets? You don't.

Plus, All Walt Disney World ticketing media is NONTRANSFERABLE, says right on the back of the tickets. If they can't pass the finger scanners, they'll be sent to Guest Relations to show they own the tickets - and the tickets will show up as who-ever they bought them from.

Don't do it it's not worth the worry of if it's a valid tick or not, i mean i have about 10 old hoppers laying around my photo albums but they are all used but if i were to sell them (not that i would i'm just not that dis honest but many are) on ebay then the person that bought them would have NO idea weather or not they were vaild till the got down to FL and scanned them!!! Bad idea!

I would be wary of any tickets on ebay. I buy things from ebay so I'm not saying it's a bad site, but I don't think saving a few dollars is worth the risk in this case. I also don't know that I"d trust the rating system in this case--as soon as someone gets their tickets, they'll leave a good rating for the ebay seller--it got here quickly, great price. But do you know if it worked?? You won't know for sure it's a valid ticket until you are at the gate at WDW trying to use it. What if it's not good?

I have a ticket from last year with a day still on it. I don't even plan on using it for our trip this fall---what if something happened to the magnetic strip and it isn't valid? To me, it's not worth the difference between a 7 day ticket and an 8 day ticket to worry about it.

But, do a search in this forum, you'll find some experiences--there was a thread a while back. Others will chime in, I'm sure!

Even if the eBay tickets are good, if they are too short to cover the entire vacation and you have to buy new tickets for the second half, then the bang for the buck of the old tickets becomes very small.

OT: If you kept what look like good written records and the ticket is not mutilated (such as the lettering on the back washed off at Blizzard Beach) the remaining days won't expire even if the magnetic stripe does not work. Disney checks computer data base records and it is as if they can tell you how and when the ticket was exhausted before actually telling you it is.

If a ticket starts to get mutilated, get it exchanged at no cost before going home if not sooner.

Still OT: you can use the card if the magnetic stripe doesn't work. It has happened to me twice in one month. Both times, I forgot about the magnetic clasp in my purse, put my tickets for the whole family in there, and both times had to get replacements for all of us. The CMs were very nice about the whole thing.
